Happy Tuesday

The Toronto fans reactions behind the goal reminded me of this....
iu

Igor
Mika
Reaves

Thank you Gallant for letting Igor get into a groove.

If Panarin didn't score the OT winner I was going to come in here and dog him. Very lazy game and awful turnovers.

We got steam rolled in the second what a complete shit show that was, though played better in the 3rd getting the puck deep and forcing TOR to come the full length of the ice.

WOW faceoffs do matter?? Our PP couldn't win a faceoff and we got 0 pressure and couldn't gain the zone after. Their PP won every faceoff and they pressured us for a full 2 min each PP. Shocker. And we win on a faceoff too, go figure.

Miller looked great, Trouba looked pretty good too was nice to see. Fox with a few unFox like gaffes but we were stuck in our own for minutes at a time so it's to be expected.

Panarin put together with Zib and CK in the 3rd helped those 3 get going, CK used his speed and was good at retrievals/D pressure and Panarin and Ziba jumped on the turnovers. Laf is kind of just there most of the time.

Chytil's sense and vision in the o zone are meh, but he's definitely got skills, maybe we should try at him at wing sooner rather than later?

KK and Strome coming back will help, if only to solidify our bottom 6 again who seem to be effective at dump and chase forechecking.

Shesty is just so calm and stabile, controlling rebounds and makes insane saves repeatedly. Low bad angle shots are still causing rebound issues but our D has been good at keeping the opposition away from those. D also gets credit for keeping good sightlines for him and if Shesty sees it right now, even from grade A areas, he'll usually stop it. On the contrary, Zib's goal was an unscreened shot from the slot, good quick release and perfect placement but not exactly ripped, and it beat Campbell. Panarin was an ok angle but ripped and perfectly placed and it beat Campbell. That was the difference tonight in goalies.

Shesterkin was brilliant of course, but Trouba-Miller was really good against a stacked and highly energized team. Once Lindgren finds his game, this is a solid top 4. Anyone else enjoying Reaves and the 4th line as much as I am?
Reaves has been my second favorite player this season behind Igor.

Zibby putting up the points which is great to see, but he seems to be a slow starter. His shot is on point, but his puck control/reception of passes and 6th sense of where to go in the o zone still has room to improve. Maybe he and Panarin playing together will get them both firing on all cylinders.

That OT at one point with Igor reminded me of havin a brew with your buddies before heading out for a night on the town - so you fire up NHL 94 on Sega. During the game you go to bring up a player to grab a loose puck only to realize you had control of the goalie the whole time...here you are up by the blue line, flopping around making saves...yeah...showing my age. lol
Man I used to do that on purpose, I loved watching my goalie make split glove saves 20 feet out of the crease on slap shot bombs, felt great (after the save) watching Shesty on that play for that reason

I really wish the camera was on Hank when Vally said that. I would have loved to have seen Hank's face. I wonder if he was like WTF?!?!
Bad directing (or at least not anticipating). I thought the same thing.

But if they had their cams going into EVS they could've slipped his reaction back going to break or something even if it was on the wide... the other cam may have been re-framing to the 2-shot right

Start Georgiev against Ottawa a bit of a weaker team and non-divisional. Can't run Shesty into the ground, his durability has been questionable so need to get him into a groove while still managing his playing time.

I really need to stay off twitter after Ranger games, the inherent negativity is too much.

It important to keep perspective on these games, especially so early in the season. Yes we got caved in in period 2 and Igor saved our asses, so what? It happens to plenty of teams against the Leafs. The encouraging thing to me that weve seen over the past 3 is that the team seems to right the ship late in games. I thought the 3rd period tonight was easily their best. Trouba said it after the game, but good teams win games when they havent played their best and this team has done that.

The negative i will take from tonight is that the big guns are still playing the run and gun style they are used to the last coupe years. They will get it going and the offense will click, but its taking them a little longer to adjust to Gallant's style than i expected. The top 6 injuries arent helping things in that regard

Shesty really had a shutout. That bullshit goal was blatant interference. Gallant is an assclown for not challenging.
I think that's a tough challenge. If they the goal counts (and I think it would have counted), Leafs now get a powerplay and have the potential to take the lead.

Correct, Shesty was pushed which forced the puck in, but the Leaf who legged Shesty was pushed by our D (Nemeth?). I think it was interference, and I've seen that called back as no goal, but can't risk a TOR PP that was firing on all cylinders.

What the top two lines need to do -- finding that third cog that fits them notwithstanding -- is stop stretching the f*** out so much, especially when coming up ice on the transition. Fox and dare I say even Trouba occasionally both give them good outs and then they try the 30-foot lateral pass that effectively negates their momentum. And they compound the problem by doing things SLOW.

He nailed the delivery too that was perfect.

Hank's suit >>>>>
Christ, even though I DVRed the game and FF through commercials and intermission I had to play when he was on screen.

Hank's so skinny when you see him out of uniform it's crazy.

He's got the Hasek narrow shoulders.
