Alright, listen. I'm not trying to create a narrative that isn't there but I can't stop asking myself this question, so I'll pose it to you guys:

Last year there were a lot of times where we hated the effort from our guys. We accused them of being listless and lifeless, but it was NEVER this bad. We thought Torts had lost the team, and we blamed his system and ever looming threats of benchings/being moved down the lineup for draining the life and enthusiasm out of the team. Not many were surprised when Torts was canned, and we later found out that the team had basically mutinied and gone behind Torts to try and get rid of him. So they GET their wish and now, in back to back games, in which they are averaging three goals against PER PERIOD, they are laying down like depressed, lifeless, heartless dogs. I don't get it. Does this not look like a team that has internal strife? Watching this team, I keep thinking that AV has been the coach for a long time and has lost the team and that this lifelessness is their response. Does it not look that way? I'm not saying that's what it is. I'm saying, I'm completely baffled and confused because of how it looks. This team looks like they all share the same mom, and they just found out she has a week to live. They look like they all just heard their dog died. Everyone of them just got dumped or is going through a divorce. I just don't get it. How can a team that BEGGED for a new coach and got exactly what they wanted TRY SO LITTLE? I'm at a loss.

From my understanding, the story that the player went behind his back to beg for him gone was a complete fabrication.

I wish we had someone like Lucic. That assaults opposing players when losing, and gets his team on the PK, and kicked out of the game!

The Rangers are better than this. So far it's been three games and one period, and it obviously gets magnified because it's the start of the season. I bet if this two game stretch were tucked in somewhere in February, people wouldn't be making as big of a deal about this. They'll start playing better at some point, whether it's next period or four games from now. The 11/12 Rangers started 0-1-2. The 2013 Washington Capitals started 2-8-1 last season, and that was a 48-game schedule. This is disappointing to watch, but realize that we're dealing with a small sample size here.

To me, the real problem was Torts' over-loyalty to Mike Sullivan and the power play's inefficiency (which reached its crescendo in the postseason). Unless Torts didn't want to fire Sullivan, he should not have been let go.

For the moment, But look who's making it.

when was the last time a 1st overall pick never played in the NHL..

and the Rangers select who with the 1st overall pick??

oh he is the grandson of Glen Sather's best friend that he went to hockey camp with.. :help:

No, but he should have made 2 of those saves. Especially that 3rd one that put the game out of reach. It's embarrassing that he lay down like the rest of those dogs. He's considered an elite, premier player. The team looked worse than him and he made some great saves, but 2 of the goals shouldn't go in. You want your elite goalie to friggin save the day at least a little.

Quick isn't doing much better in LA. Rinne isn't doing much better in Nashville. Elite goaltenders have off games too. In fact, when we faced LA, Quick gave up arguably the worst goal of his career to put the Kings out of reach in the 3rd.

Lundqvist is human. He's going to have off games. Hell, after 8 years of elite play he's allowed to have an off year. Miller has had several. Ovechkin fell out of the good graces of the elite. Malkin has had an off year. I'd say he deserves some slack.

McD gets burned on goal 1 and Selanne is all alone on goal 2. Only goal 3 could be blamed on him.

Joel and Henrik are definitely trolling NYR fans and switching identities for this week, that's my theory.

Must be April in Sweeden :sarcasm: :sarcasm:

The real headline of this season: AV vs. Bryan Trottier's coaching tenure in New York. Who shall reign supreme?
