WOW! Almost through 1st round guys! Great job.

OP has been updated, and 2nd round is up.

Also, this is when I realized that Detroit has 3 consecutive picks in 2nd: 41, 42 & 43!

Nashville & Anaheim both have back-to-back picks too.

How are you establishing Leonard’s size? He’s average height and weight at 5'11.75, 190 lbs.

You must be projecting his greater physicality and strength based on his thick build. Sure, he can and will likely add weight as he matures but his height will remain average — not that it changes anything but in his case, the « size » you are bullish about has nothing to do with his height.

And as Habs fans, we tend to be all too aware when it comes to height figures.

He's going to end up at Danault's size, which is fine for what he needs to do, except with explosive speed. The bigger guys he's often compared too are also slower, so they need that size to help them compete.

Watch the tapes and you see a player overpowering defencemen as he drives towards the net. At six foot 200 pounds this kid already has NHL size and strength. More importantly, he plays big. He leans on players. With his combination of size, skating and skill, we would be foolish not to take him if he’s available at 5OA . A possibility that I fear may not occur as other teams have access to the same tapes that I’m watching.

Danault is 6'1, and on most nights he looks small on the ice, Leonard is like almost 2 inches smaller, hes strong, like Lekhonen is, but his power game is vastly overrated at this point.

Well, you hate Danault ....

And, yeah, Leonard isn't going to be a Brady Tkachuk type power forward, but he also brings far more speed and a far better overall game.

I only hate him for his offensive implication and the fact he was the de facto 1C, not because I hate him as a player.

I like Leonard, as stated a thousand times, but the perception is very weird. I think you even compared him to Kane, and to be fair, he does remind me of Kane a lot too, but its hard to ignore the size difference here.

I did just check Kanes scouting report (2009? What the f***, Im so old, I remember him playing with a cage at the WJC) And he was 6' 170, so veru close to Leonard. Theres hope.

Toronto takes Riley Heidt, who's got exactly the style they should be targeting. They need this kind of energy and skill to inspire the gutless losers who choke every year.

He is mostly overpowering other teenagers, he will not be as effective at this in the NHL
