Here you can see I have three guys on my bench and Vasilevskiy on IR+:

So that's cool, although I do notice it says I haven't added a player this week which would not be correct unless "this week" is maybe considered the start of the season.

Anyway, when I try to put in a waiver claim on a guy, Hertl in this example, it still wants me to drop a player. So it's not understanding I should have an opening:

I'm hopeful this just clears itself up soon but it annoys me that I'm prevented from rostering a full team even for a short time, particularly given how tenuous my goaltending situation is.

@EdJovanovski could this be due to the league settings?

If the answer is, "IR+ doesn't really go into effect until 7 days before the start of the season" or something, I can live with that, but it would be f***ng stupid. A catastrophic injury at goalie is tough given that is the one position where there aren't 20 viable replacements just hanging around in free agency, so it's really damaging that I have to wait and potentially even miss out on some other options just because IR+ is currently worthless.

So I was able to put in a claim on and then add Johansson while dropping Max Domi. The problem with Vasilevskiy and the IR+ was that I had him in the IR+ spot for 10/10, which is what the app defaulted to. But when I clicked back to today, Vasilevskiy was still on the bench, so as far as the system knew I still had a full 16-man roster. I was subsequently able to move Vasilevskiy to IR+ for today, and put in another claim for that final spot that was now opened.

That all seems unnecessarily complicated but whatever, thank you for helping me solve it.

Yeah I use the "Start optimal players" button which will make sure every night, I'm starting everyone who could be starting--and if it's a night where a lot of guys are playing it will pick "the best" based on whatever criteria it uses. On busy nights I set my own lineup but I always use that feature at the beginning of the week to at least make sure I'm not forgetting to start anyone and missing a chance for points.

FWIW that may be a "Yahoo+" feature which I have for fantasy football.
