I just meant more I don't think they are very comparable. Like one plays liiga one played ncaa. Maybe i misunderstood the convo. But yeah I also don't know much about jarventie so I didn't want to argue to hard either tbh.
Something got lost in translation. I was not comparing Butler and Jarventie in any way, shape or form.
I was just commenting on Butler as a prospect because someone suddenly mentionned him out of nowhere :
"
For sure right now our most overhyped prospect. He’s approaching Bobby Butler territory."
I remember. So many ppl changed their profile pic to him, live updates on his games, streaming links, etc.
It was a good life lesson for me, never get caught up in this prospect crap. Dude was traded within a couple months lol
Why not? Did you go into depression because of it? I mean, don't prevent yourself from enjoying that part of hockey. The prospects world is one of the most interesting facet of hockey. Success and disappointments are part of it, like about anything else in life.
And all this "overhype" stuff is what makes some prospects better than others, and why they end up being drafted higher in the end. It's far from a perfect science but normally, the higher you pick, the higher chance the prospect has to be a good player, depending if teams did a great scouting job of course.
When a prospect is widely considered like a future good/great NHL player, like Rundblad was, most of the time it happens, but there's some exceptions and Rundblad didn't pan out. He was a 17th OA pick (so he was already seen as a good prospect) the year before breaking out in a MAJOR way... So yeah, he became a TOP prospect for the whole hockey planet, not just Sens fans.
