**** Ryan Callahan. Cally has a modified NTC and probably would reject a trade coming to a rebuilding team like NY.
Tampa might not a 2nd round pick either.
Yup...oh no, we might end up with Kakko, Newhook or Turcotte!
I believe that Jeff Gorton should approach Marc Staal and his agent privately and ask Marc to waive his his NMC/NTC. If agreed and there are no interest from other clubs then send him to Hartford ala Wade Redden.
As a player/coach he could have a very positive influence on our developing defensemen.
The sweetener would be that when his contract runs its course he will always have a job with the organization.
If they do not waive then sit him every night.
Either way it will open a spot for one of our developing prospects.
You know we are not getting Hughes...Someone please tell me that pick 2,3,4,5 has a winger or center that could also be elite. Not 100 percent sure but I don't believe any d men are on the Dahlin/Heiskanen level

I'm not so sure (and I'm someone who has been saying for a while that Staal won't be bought out).
If Hajek can continue his strong start with the Pack, and show that he's ready for NHL hockey next season, his ELC and Staal's buyout almost perfectly coincide meaning that you you reduce your defensive core cap-hit while improving its play. And then when Hajek needs a raise there's only one year left on the Staal buyout at pretty minimal money.
I'd be very surprised if all 3 of Smith, Shatty and Staal are on the roster for opening night next season
You lose a fraction of a second and timing and everything becomes off. Everything needs to be done so fast now. As soon as you have the puck you need to make a decision. The pace tonight was incredibly fastGame changes every decade. Look at the 70s compared to the 80s compared to the 90s etc. The immobile power forwards like Bates Battaglia and Mike Leclerc became extinct when they went from the Dead Puck Era to the post lockout. Some of the linebackers that played in the league when it rebooted in 2005, they wouldn't be able to keep up today. Half the teams from 2005 to 2012 would be three feet behind the play.
Zuc isn't slow but he's not naturally fast. He's very similar to a player like Callahan in that there's a hustle and a motor to his game. When that motor gets old, it makes most of the other elements of his game not as effective.
Game is progressively getting faster by the year.
We don't know anything...
But yes, picks 2,3,4,5 are all supposed to be very, very good.
Yes we do. happy to hear 2-5 will be good. thats probably where we will pickWe don't know anything...

There's a better chance of me playing Defense for the Rangers this season than this ever happening.
Like I always say, it isn't how you start the season that matters, it's how you finish. The regular season is a marathon, not a sprint.Totally agree, and glad to see some optimism in this forum. I am liking what I see from this team, the potential is there, and it's enormous.
Yeah. Guys today have all kinds of technology at their disposalTraining, equipment, nutrition.
Yeah no thanks, I'm not dellusional. This team as presently constituted is going nowhere and any success they have hurts the long term chances of this team having a serious shot at winning championships. If you don't see that you are going to suffer a lot these next few seasons. I notice a lot of Ranger fans not just here but in general are in complete and total denial about our present roster and circumstances. Not only that, are in complete and total denial that every single team in our division has 2 or 3 elite players and we have ZERO.
We have elite players. Buchnevich and Chytil. Our coach just sucks.

EVEN if we don't get Hughes we will absolutely get an ELITE offensive player in next years draft within the first 4 picks. Maybe even 5. But I have a hunch if we get there we get Hughes.
Chytil didn't finish the game? I hope it wasn't anything to do with the head shot he took last game.
