Doesn't matter. With the 2nd overall pick in the 2019 NHL entry draft, the New York Rangers select...

Hingle Mcringleberry!

Bob McKenzie - "Who the **** is that guy? He isn't even ranked. He played in the Thai hockey league? I didn't even know there was one."

(I am being facetious of course).

no you are dead serious....

why am i still afraid this may happen ?

Shatty has looked god awful. But I'm giving him some more slack the same way @Kovalev27 is, and for the same reasons

At this point and only being 3 games in we have no choice but to give everyone some more slack. There have been a lot of changes for him and it is equivalent to getting traded to a new team for the third straight year so I would imagine it is hard to get settled.
Unfortunately for him though he is expected to perform and he cannot keep getting the benefit of the doubt forever. At some point he is going to have to step up and show he can lead the team. I am not just saying Shatty either I think all the Veterans on this team need to do that.
I think the player on this Roster who has been the least effected by all this change has been Jesper Fast.

Whose bashing vesey? Must be guys I have on Ignore. Vesey was puke inducing during the preseason, but man...he's been really good these first 3 games . Far and away our best forward... the scary thing is the next best forward is probably howden

I was just cruising through the many post-game pages this morning. Not gonna go back and pick and choose any specific posts, but anyone talking good about him or including him in best players of the night or the lines they'd like to see... hard to find anything positive. One post even mentioned players of the game, not including Vesey (with 2 goals) on purpose because he sucks and should have had 4 goals... or something along those lines.

I agree with you completely on who the best forwards have been... Vesey and Howden... and I'll add one more that's sometimes easy to forget because he's always consistently good... Fast, who I think has been the best of the best out of all skaters night in and night out.

That's why everyone loves Jesper Fast. He doesn't change his play. Every shift is balls out, matched by off-the-charts hockey IQ.

Finally caught up from the game last night. A lot of these mistakes that they're making are because you can see the players overthinking and making a lot of easily correctable mistakes. I think these will wane in time as players starting reacting more out of instinct. You can tell there's still a lot of miscommunication in the defensive zone, and players keep falling into bad habits from AV, whether it be overcommitting on backchecks or following out of their coverage lane to chase a player that's not a threat. I'll give them 15-20 games before I hit the panic button with regards to the defensive play.

In the offensive zone, they're making the mistake of holding onto the puck too long or not getting it in deep enough to set up a cycle. They did this much better in the first period against Carolina, and it helped them set up some really nice goals. I'd like to see a bit more aggression from the d, but I think that'll take some time to develop.

I won't comment on Staal and beat the dead horse. He's been very bad through 3 games, and he and Pionk are just a bad pairing. Their worst forward relative to expectations has been Zucc. He's plodding out there, making bad reads in the defensive zone, and he just hasn't been the catalyst that we know he can be. If he's hurt, I'll let it slide. However, this seems solely like an effort issue, and if he's going to pout and whine his way through the year, get rid of him now. He has the opportunity to step up and make this his team, and it's been disappointing to watch him.

I was glad to see Hayes and Namestnikov have nice bounce-back games. Kreider had a really strong game too. Chytil and Howden had strong games again as well, and I'm glad Howden is finally getting the recognition he deserves here.

Play Deangelo more.

Hingle is one of those guys who is faster with the puck then he is w/out it. Great acceleration, and he is one of those players who can dictate the pace of a game...but his charachter speaks volumes, which is why he will fit in perfect in the new system.

Anybody else getting tired of all the Pionk bashing?

Saying he can't drag Staal around and still be effective is hardly "bashing". Saying ADA has been better is not "bashing"

Pionk has been bad. ADA looks like the better option. Call a spade a spade.

That doesn't mean I think he can't improve. He just can't improve playing with Staal.

This season, I'm not going to lie I'd rather had D like Hajek/Lindgren playing top minutes in the AHL and let Staal be the 7th or play at the NHL level for this season. At least at this current point in their development. Get tons of ice time, get used to the organizational system and play in all situations.

A player like ADA is at a point in his development where he needs to be playing at the NHL level.

Pionk reminds me of peak Rozsival. Good mobility, can escape danger, makes a decent outlet pass. Doesn't have the tools to defend physically, so will need to rely on positioning and stick checking.

Is there a chance they can beat the Sharks? Hank is back I guess, but this stinks another loss.

With DeAngelo pretty much forcing his way into the linuep, I think Pionk is best served going to Hartford for the time being.

He needs to work on his game, and playing top pairing minutes in Hartford will help. He also won't be with Staal which will help him tremendously

At some point here I hope we reach a time where Staal is rotating every couple games with Claesson. But we all know it's unlikely

I know it's been beaten to death, but Staal has taken another step down this season. He looks like Atlanta Thrashers era Chris Chelios.

There is no solution if they are going to play Staal as they have to pair him with someone.
