I feel bad for our backup goalie too @BBKers and the defense was horrific on both sides - it was like watching hockey in the late 90`s with offensive hockey. :)

IMO, not a bad day yesterday for us.

I look at the Tor-Chi blowout, Was-Pitt had one. Our game against Carolina. The game is changing, relevant information this off season would not have been that a player lost 20 lbs but if a player had NOT lost 20 lbs.

We will be helped by having a young team in this environment.

I liked how our kids looked. Names is what he is, let’s make the best of that situation.

The ice berg I see and feared for a while is the vets we have on the blueline. I see a game that is changing for defensemens quite much. It has been going on for a while, it’s a very mobile game. We have the 5th most expensive blueline in the NHL and all vets have 3 years left. I don’t think anyone’s trade value will go up from here on.

I remember seing a post stating something finally everyone will see how a healthy Shatty looks this summer, and my thought was ‘that is exactly what I am afraid of’. I don’t really agree with the haters, on many teams I wouldn’t have minded having Shatty around at all for a year or two. But he is the 15th highest paid D in the entire league. He must play at a high level to be moveable at all.

This is a ice berg that isn’t going away in three full seasons, and the cost of steering around it can turn into astronomical numbers the longer we wait. I am sorry if I keep harping about it, but I am just surprised of the total lack of awareness around the organization in relation to it.

Aww their feelings might get hurt. Who cares, let them find a safe space to cry in until the trading deadline because they’re both goners.

This ia preciswly why playera soured on Torts btw.

«yell loudly and angrily» coaches dont have a long shelf life as their methodology wears on playera morale after enough time passes.

It does however have short term benefits.

Stop acting like professionals cant be affected by their bosses. This is how every single workplace in the world works.

Knowing our scouts even if we got the 1st overall this year we wouldn’t even take Hughes
Tony looked good should take McQ spot
Howden looked good still learning but he could very much take Hayes’ spot at the deadline Zucc has looked horrendous
Why? Our 1st round picks have proven to be far better than the expected pick. Jessiman, McLrath, Sanguinetti, Voros. W r SMRT.

Is it just me or was there like...absolutely no post-game content/interviews/etc.

Literally could only find this:

I don't know what JT Miller did in the locker room, but I think trading him was a huge mistake. Trading a complete player like that who has speed, can play multiple positions, plays physical, can play PK and PP, good on faceoffs, scores over 50 points, has great puck control and has size, speed, agility, and stickhandling to hang on to the puck for a very long time, has excellent shot and playmaking ability.
Lol let’s stop this right now. Miller was not some complete player.

They traded him because they didn't want to pay him long term. The front office didnt think he would mesh well with a rebuild and if the locker room issues were true, that's not a player you want around developing kids.

I think we're all forgetting that the team just played 2 full games in less than 24 hours.

I wouldn't take this Carolina game as indicitive of anything other than this team sucks when it's tired (shocker)

I’m not going to look into the score but I will look into the individual performances.. Shattenkirk and staal looked like garbage cans on skates. A rested ADA looked dominate. He was the best defenseman last night. Whether that’s because everyone else was tired or not that’s a good sign. He’s making plays at the NHL level and being rewarded on the stat sheet

Stralman isn’t an offensive guy. And was a bottom pair guy until his last yr here. And AV still put him in the 2nd pair with staal. Slats sought to keep the top pair(mcdonagh-girardi) together and staal was viewed as the better of the 2nd pair guys.

Boyle was seen as a cheap fill in. And part of bringing the Boyle msl Richards. Trio to try fix our PP.

Yande was an attempt to fill out the defense and win a cup. We never had the $$ to resign him. Considering how he’s worked out in Florida I think we would’ve regretted it. AV was **** with his usage tho.

ADA was a quality prospect and AV wanted to get the Vets going last year despite ADA being a top 6 guy coming out of camp and having solid chemistry with Mcd. AV was **** with his usage too. This year he earned a top 6 spot but Shattenkirk(who probably wasn’t ready) is a vet with a history with the coach and a fat deal. Similar player type and limited spots. ADA was excellent again tonight. I expect him to continue playing.

Shattenkirk was a rangers fan growing up and wanted to play for his favorite team. Despite the rebuild and everything Shattenkirk wanted to take a “hometown” deal. He grew up a rangers fan and probably hated all the old vets with the fat contracts who never live up to it. And now he’s becoming one of them. Shattenkirk was lucky in the sense that he’s ufa class was bone dry and he had sheltered minutes on the 3rd pair in St. Louis.

Del zotto. You can only do so much for a guy. At some point it’s on him to put in the work and earn it. This is 2018 professional sports, if you’re not entirely into it you won’t grow.

We can do this all day. Good Offensive dmen are rare and valuable. Hence why teams continue to take shots at getting one. We’re not the only team that does this. ADA might be the future PPQB and OFD for this team. Time will tell.
That's about it! :thumbu:
