We played more than well enough to win tonight. As I said in the GDT, I'm not one of the blame every loss on Andersen guys, but I don't know how anyone can watch that game and not realize he was outplayed by the backup up the worst team in the league and be remotely okay with that. He made basically no saves one would call better than routine. We needed a big save somewhere tonight and as has been the case so often the last year or so it simply wasn't there. That doesn't mean the team didn't screw up the 3rd period as well but Andersen's pattern of play has moved from concerning to costing us games

The bottom line is that if Dubas wants a mentally strong team that can do what it takes to win, Rielly and Andersen simply can't have prominent roles. They're both mental midgets who can not make good decisions

Things happen fast but...come on Rielly. Your sniper is right there and open to shoot.

But that's just one error among a mountain pile of them that was made in this game. So I won't put that much on Rielly himself.

In Reilly’s defense the goalie wasn’t even in the net...

The Quinn Hughes-y thing to do there would be to take an extra stride to the left, pull the Ottawa defender at the top of the slot towards you and do a reverse seam pass over to Matthews.

Or if you're going to take the shot, take the extra half second and wrist shot that being mindful of all the bodies in front.

Definitely sire. You got it  That's the thang. WE THE BEST like khaled knew. We are scoring like a motha. We MONSTERS WITH WEALTH and COOL CLASS AND STYLE. LOVE IT  Now we gon murda them on the next to games HARD :biglaugh: THEY AIN*T GOT NO CHANCE IN THE NEXT TWO!!!!! Ahahahhahaa we GON BE LIKE 15 -3 2 after that DIRT!! FOR LIFE SIRE !!!! FOR LIFE!!! I LOVE LIFE

Stupid lame ass schtick

The Leafs just didn't take the game seriously after 5-1.

Instead of his usual .890% on the night, Andersen tried to get it to .790% on the night. Almost Andersen, .806% against the dead last re-building Sens who have won twice since beating Toronto a month ago. God, he's trash.

Now that I have calmed down, I am not mad at the team. Sure we got sloppy but even a below average goalie doesn't blow this game.
If we were close to moving on from Freddy in the off season, this game put it on Overdrive.

We’re looking at this the wrong way...leafs came away with a point in spite of being dominated by Ottawa in the 3rd!! Really, we’re lucky to have gotten a point today. See I’m not angry at all..

A tired team that forgot how to place D.
Holl and Muzzin looked like deer in headlights.
Would be nice if they hit someone once in a while.

Tavares looks lost.

I am only in this to see Matthews win the rocket and blow the f***ing doors off McDavid and Draisaitl in goals now.

It really is.

It's really not.

With the exception of Edmonton and possibly the Habs, I don't think any other Canadian team would even have a sniff of the playoffs this season if it was a normal year with the same divisions of years past.

Tavares-Nylander line is an absolute disgraceful duo.

the 11M dollar man JT cannot drive the freakin line. No option but to change it up

Thornton-Matthews-Nylander
Hyman-Tavares-Marner

Keefe's love affair with Kerfoot needs to end. Kadri trade has come back to bite us on our ass so many times now it is not even funny. We had the most center depth and we pissed it away.

Team also needs to engage in board battles it shouldnt only be Hyman's job.

JT's contract into the 3rd year now is already looking like an albatross. With cap not going anywhere anytime soon; this is going to sting. JT needs to hire Gary Roberts full time as personal coach like yesterday and work with Barbs on his skating

The JT contract was always a little worrisome I thought. Hopefully, he swings it around and starts playing well again. If he further regresses in the next year or two, it wouldn't be an easy contract to move & would be a drain on the cap.

Doesn’t feel like a bad luck loss, but bad luck was a strong part of it.

Ottawa plays the Leafs tough, no matter how bad they are. The big thing is with the next two against the Sens, how will they respond?

That will tell me a lot about this Leaf team. Based on the past I’m not encouraged.

Nylander looks like a head case out there. Thinking too much and out of sync with Tavares. JT just looks like he’s fighting it to make plays with the puck.

Still pissed about the blatant non call on the trip of Tavares

I think there’s going to be many hot takes here where people complain that everyone’s overreacting to the last two losses.

But what I really think happened is that everyone overreacted to the teams hot start.

I think we may be back to seeing the “real” leafs. Hope I’m wrong.

It is impossible to over react to this loss

Stuff like that happens. Despite poor play, Tor gets a point and still is the best team north. They did not show in the third, period. Imo TOR needs a shutdown center to control that kind of crazy games.
stuff like this happens to the leafs, lets be clear about that. Id feel a but better if this happened against a quality team, but the sens, geeeeeeeez.

Keefe - F - why are you not calling a timeout? Pulling the goalie? Might as well sit down and enjoy the game on the best seats in the house

This is against a rebuilding Ottawa Senators team that the Leafs gave up a 5-1 lead to. There are no excuses for any one player on this lineup, except maybe Matthews. As a player, you're expected to compete for the entire game and as a coach, it is your duty to make in-game adjustments. The fact that he didn't pull the goalie or even call a timeout is reason enough... never mind the lopsided nature of his player deployment.

Nylander worst than JT, Rielly and Andersen? Lol
