We want Laf and Kakko to get points? Then roll out Kakko, Laf, Chytil, Panarin, and Fox on PP1. Every game.
Roll them out on offensive o-zone draws against the other teams 2nd and 4th lines.
Stick with it, then the points will come. This will NOT happen with Quinn. This team is weird, they aren't going to get 5v5 points playing with a yipped Zib.

Even the 1st two units on the ice tonight in OT. Trouba-Mika-Bread, Kreider-Strome-Miller. Isn't it intriguing to see what Fil can do with Kreids on the 3 on 3? Or Kaapo getting some ice time with Bread with open ice. Sad.

Entertaining game after the first period
3 guys out
Get a point
Ill take it
A healthy shesty wins this game easily
And miller needs to learn when to pinch and when not to.
Zib was everywhere. Only thing he didnt do was finish
Loved the Tarmo pass
Gauth and strome penalties hurt
LGR!

I wish we’d picked up Quenneville. He inherited rookie/young Toews and Kane and they flourished under him. His team’s have a brand of hockey and he knows how to handle young players.

Gorton's hubris will be the end of him. He doesn't want to fire his hand picked coach.

I think K-Roons and All-in Colin are the types of journeyman that have placed their bets on being a 4th line chip and chasers whereas Lafreniere, Chytil, and Kakko are trying to explore their skill sets and just like Kaapo said in the Finnish interview, Quinn tells him to not do a lot of things that are not defensively sound. In my mind that means Quinn is pushing chip and chase board work safe is safe hockey. Hard to thrive when you're in an Amish village trying to learn how to make mushu pork with an electric wok.
That's what you hope it is. You hope that it's something like DQ overcoaching the kids to the point where it's debilitating to a player. Then you change coaches and the player regains their game again. Again it's odd to say but that's what you hope the explanation is.

Exactly. Our ACTUAL future isn't going to learn shit watching these vets screw up.

See, I think it’s the opposite. I think people would still be complaining if they’d scratched out an OT win and saying that Panarin is the entire team, because no one is happy with the way they played, regardless of the scoreboard. And it’s obviously not a reaction to a single game in a vacuum, but people’s frustrations over the course of 27 games so far. Far more of them have been truly bad performances than moderately good ones.

They are basically NHL .500 with a ton of injuries to important players, Panarin and TDA debacles, being youngest team in league, and playing in what is arguably the leagues toughest division. The coach needs to be replaced and things will fall into place starting next year.

The shitty part is that Quinn has his built in excuses basically guaranteeing he won’t be fired.

Covid, youngest team in the league, Panarin leave of absence, Igor injury, Georgiev pants pooping, Mika looking like the Monstars stole all his talent.

He is doing some bad stuff as a coach. The PP is abysmal, his player usage is questionable, the kids largely struggling under him. There’s serious concerns and there’s an argument to be made that the team is regressing under him and the kids are not progressing as they should sans Fox. But I feel like Quinn’s seat is never going to get the scrutiny and at the very least hot seat he deserves bc of the excuses. Some of them valid but he shouldn’t be immune from criticism and this is a results oriented business and even as a “development” coach the results (development and progress not wins) just haven’t been where they need to be.

At the very least whichever assistant is running the PP (Oliver I guess) should be fired. Even without Panarin and Mika sucking there’s too much talent for it to be as bad as it is.

I know Gauthier got a pretty goal, but he was awful too. Those two penalties just can’t happen.
Gauthier has taken penalties but he's a spark on offense and does come back for defense. He's shown WAY MORE than both Kakko and Laf which is sad.

While we are all disappointed with them, Zib is completely killing our season. I really hope this is a bad year for everyone and they play better under normal circumstances next season.

I'm close to eternal sunshining my mind of this season and mentally moving to next season. There's half a season left but the chances of doing a 180 from this current state is lower than winning the lotto.

Oh wait...

I should just blame myself. Bought my nephews Kakko and Lafreniere jerseys before either had even played a game. I jinxed them! I also bought a Daigle jersey after the 1993 draft when I was 11...

I’ve never been more disappointed in this team that’s the truth. All these first round pick forwards and they all look lost. Kravtsov will just be more painful when you see farabee and wahlstrom thriving.

this is an embarrassment and management is doing nothing about it

I know people want Quinn gone like yesterday but it’s pretty clear (to me at least) he’s not gonna be the coach next season

I guess the real question is whether Gorton wants to pull the plug early or not

He has a tough job. He's got two tasks of developing really young players and winning games. He just falls into the game-by-game trap of riding his veterans and riding PP1 and riding the hot hands (many times not the top 6 this season) in order to get the W. At least you would hope that the development and teaching are happening at the practices, despite it not translating onto the games.

I think even with all of the other factors like COVID and Panarin's leave of absence Quinn still gets fired after this season. He had 3 years. Average NHL coach gets about 3.5. I've seen enough. Hopefully Gorton has as well.

Farabee is good. Wahlstrom is benefitting from the Isles overall play and the Buffalo Sabres as an opponent. He has a long way to go. I would still take Kravtsov over him.

Does it seem more likely that two back to back very highly touted consensus lottery picks are busts? There’s a common denominator here, and even if it doesn’t work, a coaching change is the next step because these two will make or break the whole rebuild

What are they supposed to do exactly ?
They need to let them have growing pains

Quinn's relaxed attitude about everything is what annoys me the most. No one cares you had good looks and a good push back when you start like crap every game and the kids aren't thriving. You'd have to wonder if he's this tone deaf and easy to tune out in the room as he is with the prssers.
