25th Anniversary Game Feb 8th

I have to admit (confess?), I made no effort to watch the ceremony, much less the game. I had to work but frankly I'm a little surprised (at myself) for not "scheduling" to watch this with my sons, one of whom was a 3yo (at the time) and both hockey players that have gone to many, many games with me and on their own. We had season tickets for 12 years, ending last season.

Then, I caught the replay of the ceremony from the start of Messier's speech, and just could not bring myself to stay tuned.

10-15 years ago, I was fine with "remembering" that time. It WAS a very special time, and a special team. I just can't go there anymore.

I was just in MSG today and they told me they didn’t have any more of the 94 hats or pucks from last night

So looks like anyone who wasn’t there is SOL

The hats were sold out by like 6, and the lines were out the doors of all the shops so I didn’t bother looking for other stuff
 
Yeah, I went to the stores after the ceremony and it was packed and basically wiped out of everything. The only thing they seemed to have in bulk was the locker room tee's which they've had since December.
 
Rangers just had an event at Pier 17 where they talked about the season. Its supposed to be aired on msg at some point with some additional video on Instagram later in the week but they added this just now.

 
There were 3 items sold after 4 PM yesterday.

The Starter hat
The game puck
A 1994 poster

They sold max 5 of each to a customer. I was 3rd in line, got 2 hats and 4 pucks. I didn't really have a reason to buy more but now I wish I had to help out some guys here with a hat

I had forgotten just how many ex-Oilers we had on that 94' team. Like Messier said it was a "family".

I kind of look at it like there were many half-brothers. Guys like Mess, Esa, Lowe, Boom, MacTavish, Anderson and lets not forget Gravey were added to the team, players that cup winning experience. Subtract literally any ONE of them, and maybe we don't win that cup.
Despite winning the Cup, I was crushed that we traded my favorite player at the time.......Mike Gartner. He obviously didn't get his name on cup, but he was a big part of the regular season. If I remember correctly, didn't the Rangers vote to give him a ring? I remember something about that, doesn't "ring" a bell for me right now. Anyone?

Probably could have made some duckets by doing so. I won't do something like that anymore myself though. I have, and ended up with useless Jets PO tickets, etc.

Agreed. I'm not one to talk, ut yeah. Even Messier could use some work on his bottom teeth. He had his top half knocked out playing (boy do I remember him skating around toothless) so top looks nice.....but just happened to notice his bottom needs tending to. Sorry Mess.
Do you think that tough hockey players and scrawny announcers are afraid of dentists?

I don't remember that but I do remember Edzo crediting Gartner with lobbying on his behalf to get his name on the cup.

I mean, i guess he is nice. Its just that his faced changed BIGTIME when off air (albeit he wasn't)
 
I know I'm the resident Chiclets booster here but Adrian Aucoin in the latest episode touched on two big 94 characters - Mike Keenan and Mark Messier. I really suggest everyone listen as it was a great interview.

I'll just paraphrase one of his Keenan stories. Aucoin is clearly a huge friend of Alex Mogilny. He said Mogilny was the most talented player he ever played with but he was so talented that sometimes he didn't go 110%. After one game Keenan tore into Mogilny like he hadn't done before in the locker room. After Keenan was done Mogilny looked at Keenan and said, "Mike, did you hear about what happened when I left Russia? About how they wanted to kill me, kill my family? Do you really think anything you're saying is going to scare me?" Aucoin said it was the one time Keenan had no idea how to react, one of the few times he wasn't able to get the last word.

Cool story, but I'm trying to recall where & when Keenan was Mogilny's coach?

Edit: Found it. Vancouver 97-99. Have no memory of Keenan coaching Messier or Mogilny when Mess came back to the garden in Nov '97 as a Canuck. Or maybe Tom Renney wasn't fired yet. Either way, old age sucks.

I have an original one, too. Never liked the way it fit!

The shirt basically feel apart years ago from constant wear.

True, I have a giant head. My fitted caps are 7 7/8 (used to collect major and minor league caps when I'd visit a new ballpark). I only got it to fit on the last peg, and with that, it never seemed to be comfortable.
 
Did anyone snag an extra commemorative game puck that they would be willing to sell? I can only find one listed on ebay, and they want a C-note for it.

@Amazing Kreiderman skipped off back to Europe before we could make a deal ;)
