Me too, looking at it makes my eyes water and my head swell with pressure for some reasoni cried a little bit, not even gonna lie. sheesh, man, Richter was my guy. really ****ty the way he was forced to retire because of injury.
There is no reason they shouldn't celebrate the 25th anni of the 94 cup team, whether they've had success since or not. This is specifically a celebration of those guys, that team, who carried that extra burden on their shoulders. If the franchise had won multiple cups since, they'd still be having this celebration (and ones for the 25th anni of subsequent winners).
I was always a Leetch guy. But it’s hard not to love Richter. He worked so hard and was so classy. The sad thing is it all seemed end so fast for him.i cried a little bit, not even gonna lie. sheesh, man, Richter was my guy. really ****ty the way he was forced to retire because of injury.
I think the Messier pin makes the set. It'd be nice if they gave us a corrected one and let us keep the brainfart
What happened on May 6, 1994 you ask? Why Mark Messier celebrated the meeting of the french and english tunnel diggers under the channel!I am happy I have the Messier pin. Not going to give that away ever haha
I agree.
I'm the first one to admit/lament the way this organization has milked this Cup. Being inundated by the 94 in the summer, having the Cup at Messier's retirement ceremony, etc. But 25 years a milestone anniversary.
It should be a fun night.
If Dolan didn’t milk this as much as he has, tonight would have been even more special.I was thinking the same thing this morning. **** Dolan for milking this team for the last two decades to distract from the mess he's created in that building.
But this is a real milestone. And for anyone who lived through it, it's tough to describe the amount of pressure they had on them....hell, I was probably too young to fully realize it at the time. But put it this way, I've seen my dad cry twice in his entire life - once was when my grandmother passed away, and once was on June 14th, 1994.
If Dolan didn’t milk this as much as he has, tonight would have been even more special.
On a side note, with the benefit of history, Mike Keenan really gets a pass for the **** he pulled during the playoffs.
I imagine he has to be there. Is he going to be there tonight? Brooks described it correctly as treacherous. He probably had his flight booked to St. Louis the night of game 7.
If they give out commemorative things, can someone snag one for me? Can pay shipping and whatever the item costs of course.
I imagine he has to be there.
But treacherous is great word. Trying to get Smith outsteed to consolidate power. Flirting with Detroit. And St. Louis.
I really don’t think enough can be said about the job Messier did serving as a buffer between the players and Keenan.
He was the right player at the right time - and that's severely understating it.
I have my issues about how he kept that sheriff's mentality into his 2nd stint here when his skills had clearly eroded.
But hey, today is about 1994
That'd be greatly appreciated. They have commemorative rings. I doubt they hand out more than 1 but if I can get anything twice, I will let you know, man
That'd be greatly appreciated.
If they have like shirts or anything (if you happen to see them at MSG) let me know, then I'd try to call to buy some.
They do? Oh boy. I am going to email the internal merchandise address. I assume it's MSG exclusive and shopNHL isn't carrying it.They do have that.
