Personally I think it's a huge joke that Larkin has a 3 team list and it's Minnesota, Vegas, and Florida. Talk about being a front runner lol. What a loser.

Hopefully he goes to one of those teams and just loses a bunch. It was great when Hossa pulled that and we beat him.

Im a little surprised the fans and media seem to be on Larkin's case more than Yzerman's. The Yzerplan has yielded nothing, and the players have asked for more aggressive moves to address scoring depth, which then then only received Faulk and Gibson. get rid of Yzerman and start using some of those young prospects and picks to improve the team.

I think people have been plenty on his case. When Larkin initially asked out, he was getting dumped on. Larkin has 5 years at 8.7MM left. Florida doesn't need a #2 center. Minnesota and Vegas are so far in the hole just trying to get cap compliant next season that there is no way for them to even fit Larkin.

People keep bringing up Minnesota and their supposedly bad cap situation. Am I missing something? I see $12.75M of space with only 5 spots to fill (which includes 2 low-cost RFAs). They could dump Foligno and/or Middleton (each make ~$4M) to get cap space if need be. Otherwise, they don't seem too bad off.

I don't think the Pens are actively shopping for dumps for picks.

They are currently looking for younger {mid to late 20's) guys looking for a fresh start types.

The Pens don't need more draft assets. They have 19 1st's, 2nd's and 3rd's

Unless they are getting a 1st, there's no need to collect more 2nd's and 3rd's.

They can only flood the system with so many prospects.

I think they are shopping for all of the above and you can never have too many draft assets. And the Pens are a loooooong way away from having too many prospects. They basically have maybe 5 legit prospects right now that will no longer be prospects by the time the future draft picks are in the system. Most draft picks never make it, so worrying about "flooding the system with so many prospects" seems a little misguided.

You can also trade draft assets for the younger players you speak of (like China and Sods, but I wouldn't call late 20s "young"). Dubas can say whatever he wants at a press conference, but if a good deal comes along for a cap dump, he is taking it, and it won't matter in the slightest, just as Nurse won't matter in the slightest on the Pens' timeline.

But whether the Pens are or are not shopping for cap dumps is an entirely different discussion than if they should, which was the original discussion.

Big swing from the Oilers, his numbers are good but very comparable to Joel Blomqvist (who has 15 NHL games compared to Cossa's 1). He's an RFA, if they lock him in for two years at close to the league minimum and he can be an average starter then they'll free up money to sign Colton Dach to an 8 year deal.

I'd argue Blomqvist has better numbers tbh.

And i would be happy with a 2nd for Blomqvist.
But Cossa is more touted and I think he gets more due to him being a "bigger" name.

When you have 8 forwards signed for next season and have 14MM in cap space, that is a hole.
