Salary Cap: '24-'25 Salary Thread: Crosbicles Volume MMXXV - Poolman and Poolparty?!?

Yeah I would have thought the whole “Crosby calls the shots around here” thing would die when they traded Guentzel for a pile of shit.

I think some of you are just f***ing bored.
To be clear:

Carolina: We wanted Jackson Blake or Bradly Nadeau.
Blake: in Carolina - 50GP 11g 5a 16pts
For NHL comparison - Beauvillier: 50gp 11g 4a 15pts
Nadeau: AHL - 32gp 12g 13a 25pts

New York: We wanted Brennan Othmann: AHL - 16gp 5g 6a 11pts

Vancouver: We wanted Jonathan Lekkermaki: AHL - 24gp 14g 7a 21pts

Instead, we had to settle for Koivunen as ONE of the pieces in the return, who is posting a meager: 36gp 10g 22a 32pts

Yes, I think some people are bored. And by bored, I mean disingenuous. And by disingenuous, I f***ing "agenda-driven idiots".

Wow if he keeps that up he might be as good as Emil Bemstrom one day.

Crosby will have had the same cap hit from the time the salary cap was 58.9m to it pushing 100m by the time his next deal runs out. That he’s out there at 37 skating around with dorks like Beauviller and DOC is just incredible.

Our most dynamic winger is f***ing Rickard Rakell. No team is going anywhere built like that.
Dynamic wingers better than Rakell are hard to come by. They are expensive as well. With Sid being 37, it doesn't make much sense to sign a lucrative deal for a high-end dynamic winger. First, we likely don't have the assets needed to trade for one (or if we did, we probably shouldn't be) and second, it's very difficult to make Pittsburgh an attractive FA destination unless you want to get looney with the money and term. You think Marner would come here on a good value contract to play with Sid for 2 years followed by 5 years of the gutter?

What would you be saying if instead of Koivunen, the name read Nadeau or Blake? Would you be happy for sad with that stat line?

This speaks to how bad you are at via analyzing prospects.

Rossi said that Malkin didn't have a worst case scenario knee injury and will only be out for a few weeks. Think it's like a 2-4 week MCL sprain if I had to guess.

They should just let him rest for the rest of the year tbh. Season’s toast.

It's entirely within reason to suggest that guys like Blake and Nadeau end up Beauvillier caliber players, just what Beauvillier used to be. He was a 1st rounder himself and hovered around a 20-20 guy for a majority of his career.

But I think I misread the point of what you were saying so this point may be irrelevant.

I’d be saying we sent away a dynamic winger for a pile of shit.

There is a big difference between a 27 year old Beauvillier and a 21 year old.

I'm not quite sure what the point is here?

I would've happily taken a 19-21 year old Beauvillier over any prospect we got in the Guentzel trade.
The point is, the prospects we did get in the trade are on par with the players we wanted to get in the trade.

The difference is, you want to bitch and moan about the ones we did get because you don't like Dubas. It doesn't matter what their performance is, nor will it ever.

It's another chapter in your crusade of tantrum-throwing because Rox Hextall got fired and your open willingness to throw any objectivity out the window.

My guess is you'd be on suicide watch if Koivunen got called up and scored a goal in his first game.

@Randy Butternubs you watch Wilkes regularly, right?
Of Avery Hayes' 25 games, how many of them has he been in the top-six for, roughly?
Also how many did he get PP1 for?

Cuz he's at 18 points in 25 games (10 goals,+9), and I liked his camp a lot. I remember seeing lineup cards with him in the bottom-six a few times.

I haven't watched too much this season. But I don't think he's been in the top 6 or the top PP

Maybe @PensFutures and @Jacob could fill in more info.

Harrison Brunicke alone might make the Jake trade work out

If you can get 2 legit top-9/top-4 pieces out of the Guentzel trade plus whatever Bunting is moved for, that's an easy win for the Penguins. Just need to hope Brunicke and Koivunen pan out.

Whatever Lucius, Ponomarev and whatever you get back for Bunting is just gravy if those two can pan out.

I’ve commented many times I’m glad he’s having a good season and overcoming the issues I thought he would have.

I’d still take Blake or Nadeau over all three prospects we got.

People are way, way too high on Brunicke. He looked great in camp, but he’s far from a blue chipper.
He was off to a good start before getting hurt and may have made Team Canada.

I agree it's perhaps a stretch to call him a blue chipper before he proves more but the early returns look promising.

Wheeler put him on the same tier as McGroarty and Pronman put him ahead of McGroarty :dunno:

Yes. And McGroarty is a best case scenario top six winger.

Yeah. He’s a nice piece. But he’s Owen Pickering level type with maybe some unlocked offense.

I mean yeah, Brunicke's upside is a fringe #2/3 defenseman while McGroarty's upside is a fringe 1st/2nd liner. I don't think anyone would disagree there.

I think both guys have "core" potential but not "franchise" potential. That's a pretty major piece to get back for a rental Guentzel.

I think the upside would be second pair puck moving d and if he hits that it would make the Jake trade pretty solid regardless of if the other guys bust.

But we will see how he develops.
