To Utah: Frederic, Peeke, 3rd
To Boston: Maccelli, 2025 1st

To NJ: Marchand (50% retained)
To Boston: 2026 1st, Seamus Casey

To Dallas : Coyle (25% retained), 4th
To Boston: Stankoven, 2026 2nd

Resign Geekie

Geekie • Zacha • Pastrnak
( ? ) • Lindholm • ( ? )
Maccelli • Poitras • Stankoven
LW • Kastelic • RW

Lindholm • McAvoy
Lohrei • Carlo
Zadarov • Casey

Not a cup contender, but cap space to fill the holes in free agency, or assets (1st/ 2nd round picks) to trade for solid top 6 talent. Roster is younger and faster.

that third line would be a -150 collectively :)

I do like the deals tho

I think at this rate all Don will do is trade Freddy and one lesser D. He'll extend Geekie in the offseason.

Everyone else is kept. Quietest deadline for us in ages.
This right here. He's not trading for futures to make the team worse for next year unless he gets something bonkers on the table.

Freddy UFA, doesn't seem will sign here, so makes sense for him to move. Other names thrown around like Carlo and Coyle, just don't see it, unless it's equal or better valued player coming back, or crazy futures.

He's retooling, not rebuilding, which is what he should do.

Guess my boy Brazeau is in the dog house.

If he doesn't dress in a game where the coach has Beecher, Viel, Koepke and Merkulov in the lineup I guess he's all done.

Well he has worked not very hard at all to deserve it. i cant imagine there is someone willing to give up a pick for him, but if someone offers anything you let him go, otherwise he is on the waiver wire by next weekend

It's a shame, but its very well deserved

If Sweeney could make those trades he's GM of the century.

We evaluated but at the end of the day we weren't offered high returns so we have decided to keep our players as our own rentals.

If he is able to resign Freddy to a reasonable deal I would prefer that to trading him for flotsam and jetsam (ie a 2nd), but if that doesn't happen he has to deal him.

I don't see the UTA deal making sense.

Frederic is hurt. UTA isn't making the playoffs. It's possible they get like 5 games from him and then he's a unrestricted free agent. There's just no value there, and certainly not one involving a 1st.

Meanwhile which of Durzi, Kesselring and Marino is Peake playing over?

The others seem more realistic.

Don't think the Jersey deal is realistic either.

They have projected 23 mil in cap space for next year.
So if the genius only deals Frederick and re-signs Geekie and Marchand and Lohrei.
I have no idea the values but lets just say that the total re-signing is 15 mil? (is that too much or too little?) That leaves ~8 mil to spend. Is that enough to make this team a contender or just another middle of the road/first round exit?

I say no. I don't see any FA that would make that much of an impact. I don't see any prospect either.

Doesn't make sense as Blues have been winning as of late, 4 in a row I don't see why they would want to get rid of an high energy guy like Neighbors
Fluto brought it up and it’s out there on the streets but what I have was the 1 protected & Freddy

I would do a top 10 protected and Freddy but the Blues would be foolish

Neighbours is a fav of mine and is from the TJ Oshie tree - I’ve tried to get him from @LouJersey in the SIM but he likes him like me

If Sweeney could get JN that’s a great get

Ideally I want the Bruins 8-10 and getting Desnoyers or 11-16 grabbing Bear

The team according to my home town bud who is around one very good vet is they respect Sacco and play hard - they want to make playoffs badly

Not unless it's in the top 12.
Damn, crazy how much people value Geekie. He’s been good but needs a new deal where he’s probably getting overpaid and can probably credit a portion of his production to where he slots in the lineup.

I’d like to keep him but I’d take a 1st for him in a heartbeat.

Dare to dream
I drafted Stenberg in the SIM so I followed him religiously including the WJC and am a huge huge fan (although I traded him 2 months ago ) but he’s real hoid

The other two I watch and follow as well

The Blues got serious forward prospects

If I’m GM I’ll sign Freddy in July 1 and keep all the picks

Rumors make no sense to me but I’ll take it

I never thought they get Zacha for Haula without hostages or Seattle would non tender Geekie

Problem being the first you get for him is going to be a late first and far from a guarantee of even making the NHL let alone becoming a 20-25 goal scorer which Geek is on his to being.

I suspect those in favour of trade Geekie are doing so with the assumption that what we’ve seen since being placed on Pastrnak’s line this season… isn’t likely sustainable.

Would fear a multi-year contract at $4M-$5M and would prefer to “sell high” with the idea that he returns to being a 15ish goal player for the duration of his career.

Unfair?

Basically my thinking.

It's almost as crazy as how much people overvalue firsts, or think that in some way they are even valued draft to draft and throughout the round.

With Geekie on his new deal you are likely getting a productive NHL player for 4 years

With a late first round pick the odds of getting a guy who is a productive NHL player for 4 years are below 20%, likely even worse in a bad draft like this one seems to be.

That easily could happen, as obviously his offensive production wouldn't be close to what it is today, if Sacco didn't put him with Pasta.

Yeah I guess so, I think it’s less overvaluing draft picks and disagreeing on Geekie’s value, but what do I know totally possible I could be wrong.
