And there is overpayment #1 of the silly season.

Not saying these are locked solid, but there’s a week to go and depending on injuries and what rival teams do, if a GM gets desperate these are possible.

Marchand a 1+

Coyle a 2

Carlo a 1 or 2+

Frederic a 2

Geekie a 2+
If the bruins deal Carlo he's easily getting a 1 plus imo as would Marchand as long as he's healthy. Coyle as well imo. I dont think all three will be moved but if the bruins are serious about re-loading their prospect pool two of three should be on their way out.

Id keep Geek, Freddy going for 2nd/3rd I would think
Brazeau for a 5th maybe a 4th

Is it an overpayment? there is an 18% chance that second round pick plays 100 games in the NHL, probably no more than a 10-12% chance that second round pick is ever as good as Lindgren is today,

There is no way I let Geekie go for a 12% chance that in 5 years there is someone as good as him to replace him. Same thing with Carlo, No way I trade him for a pick outside of the lottery. And really I only trade him to bring in someone who is a young player in or on the verge of the NHL, or in the NHL on the verge of breaking out.

Coyle in terms of a 2nd, may make sense as you are talking the opportunity cost to open over 5 million to replace him

Good point and I definitely agree with you, but it often seems that we’re in the minority.

Even if it isn’t overpayment….its encouraging, considering that Carlo is at the very least as good…(at his best, I think better).

Interesting list you put together
1 - Petterson at one time I was all in, but now I would proceed with caution, must really do homework
2 - Marner was never on board, but softening, Rantanen, see petterson
3 - no thank you
4 - see 3
5 - pass
6 - I would not say no
7 - no
8 - no-
9 - Always been a fan but, has that shipped sailed
10 - I will fill in 10 for you, Shane Wright, former first rounder, and better than taking a risk and drafting a
# 1 and developing him when that process has been done for by Seattle.
Love the feedback, thanks! Isn't is sad that the only one we can come up with for the 10th option is Wright?

He grew up in Warroad, Minnesota right near border with Winnipeg, Mabitoa, so it would be closer to home than the Twin Cities.

Geekie is worth way more than a 2nd.
Then move him for a 1st today.

You don't have to worry about that particular one.
Not a clue.

When i asked about the Leafs rumor and Brayden Schenn on TSN I was asked "did the Leafs say they'd do it because they would take it no questions asked".

When i asked if they were trading for Trent Frederic i was told no and was asked if I was running for mayor yet.

Truth is Monty wants TFred and has interest but they would rather wait to see if he hits free agency and take a run at him then rather than over pay in a trade.

Why Geekie? He is going to hit 23-25 goals this year. If you trade him to contender it will be for a low 1st round pick and prospect. No way I trade him for that.
Because Geekie is a 3rd liner and Bruins need high high skill top players..if they get a first and a prospect for him take it and run...

Instead of just keeping Linus. We wind up with a bad goalie contract, a JAG 4th liner, and prayer of a first round pick. Pretty sweet.
Both Linus and Sway asked for 55 games...only 82 in a season

If you could get Alex Lafreniere for 2nd line LW, would you?
I think he really needs to play on a somewhat deep team and beside players who are dynamic offensively. He will probably do fine if he's part of the gang. If he's a main cog, I'm not sure he lives up to that role.

Bruins don't seem like a good fit in those ways. There would be too many expectations.

Panthers going for it again with jones but I think Chicago won that deal. Knight gonna be a good goalie.
Chicago retaining 2.5m per year until 2030, that’s nothing to sneeze at. And a Florida 1st is late 20’s.

Seth Jones was openly trashing the front office. How long before Connor Bedard requests a trade out of Chicago?

Assume no retention. Is he a player you target, or simply pass on to save cap space for a true 1st line C?
7.5m per,, hard pass

But you are not likely to get a high high skill player with a first round pick in the mid 20s of this draft. In fact there is only about a 20-25 % chance you are going to get someone more skilled than Geekie, and that person is likely to not demonstrate that ability until the 28/29 season.

Yes it does free up some cap space this summer, but you are also not getting someone more skilled than Geekie for the cap space Geekie will get in this FA market

what would make you think that?

Connor Bedard Looked So Defeated Sitting in Penalty Box ...

Geekie is not a skill guy but a 3rd liner sorry...capspace for an elite one

So Sweeney has to fill three top 6 spots. Coming off a summer where he paid Lindholm to be a first line center and you have him as 3rd line next year.

Good luck to us all.

Yippee, there are a minimum of 8 teams who will have more capspace than the Bruins this offseason. And there are no more than a handful of really interesting FA players.

Good grief if I look at the hockeywriters list, and eliminate players 33 and over, because other than Marchand coming back on a short term deal, I have no interest in the old players. This leaves Ryan Donato as the 5th best forward under 33 on the market.

So even if Bruins clear capspace there may not be able to give it away, unless maybe they badly overpay the older players

What kind of rationale is that? Who cares. Do you trade the better goalie and pay the unproven kid 8.5 schmill for eternity. Its dumb. There was zero rush to do what they did. That decision alone impacted the season more than anything. There’s maybe 3 goalies in the league at anytime worth that money. He’s not one of them. Having almost $12 schmill tied up tendies is not how you win in this league. It’s frigging insane actually.
