It’s hard to know what they need.

At the start of the year, everyone (and I mean that literally) was sure we needed a RW to play with Marchand. In my mind, I was picturing a shooter to go with his 63’s passing and 13’s net front presence.

Twenty games in, it looked like we needed a LW to play with Zacha and Pasta. IMO, the best fit there would have been a power forward who played around the net and below the goal line, a Bertuzzi type.

Then last game they put Marchand-Lindholm and Pasta together and they look great. Now it feels like they need a LW to play with Zacha and Brazeau, but this time I’m thinking a play driver who like to carry and make plays.

So in my mind we’ve gone from
RW shooter to LW power forward to LW play driver.
it's pretty weird, that's for sure. and with kastelic finding a home at 3RW, they probably need help on the 4th line too.

one thing that has been curious - this team still leads the NHL in PP opportunities. for a team that we probably consider very
low on the skill quotient (especially compared to the rest of the league), any idea why that's happening? kind of a strange
combination.

IMO game management by the refs has a lot to do with it. Bruins have been down on the scoreboard a lot, which has always increased the odds of getting a call in your favor for whatever reason.

Oesterle has been such a pleasent surprise. You barely notice him out there, he just plays a simple and effective game.

I'm not sure how far away Lindholm is but I think they are going to be running into an issue soon as to who the 7th defenseman is going to be...I guess they could keep both but I wonder if they consider floating Wotherspoon out there.

maybe the team size is a factor…perhaps defenders have to be more physical defending us and it leads to more clutching/grabbing/stickwork

Here are the Bruins' most productive line combinations thus far 5 on 5

Ya they need to hang on to that 1st so that they can draft another Letourneau (2 assists this year).

Agreed.

Kid should have quit hockey altogether when he was 7 and went scoreless in the Holiday Jubilee tournament right after he lost his last baby tooth and a 6th grader on his bus told him there was no such thing as the tooth fairy.

Kid has no chance.

I spoke to a B's scout who scouted him extensively in his draft year and they are happy with where he is at right now with all things considered. He suggested the easiest path would have been to spend a season in the USHL, but they believe this experience he is gaining now will be more beneficial to him in the long run. Ignore the stats.

Without trying to jinx the team into an injury…these things usually work themselves out.

Or Carlo. Wotherspoon might get you a mid round pick or the forward equivalent of him, a physical, steady 4th line forward.

Carlo should get you a second or third line forward.

I think this team is very fast and the speed draws a lot of penalties. Too bad they lack secondary goal scorers. If they had more weapons on the wings I think this team would be a lot better at the pp

Gonna need a 13th forward out west
Send McLaughlin down call up potrais and someone else poitras play with 11-13
Cope beech kastelic back together

I know I have been travelling a lot lately, but isn't Johnson still around as the 13th forward? I knw I'd be perfectly happy to move on and send him packing.

Love this report. I am surprised to see low depth chart rankings for Koepke and Braz.

Both pending UFAs. I hope to see them both get contracts. Should both be reasonable
