Has there been any resolution on the RyJo situation? I know it's somewhat moot know with the rising cap, but still would like to know what happened.
It's absolutely unacceptable that they couldn't have resolved this from August to now in time for the affected teams to adjust for Cap implications before the season ended.

While they should have gotten it done, I don't think it would have helped either team all that much. I'd argue the retention slot would have been a bigger deal than the cap.

I don't think they could have known that in October, however. It turned out that both teams were also-rans. And Philly could LTIR his portion anyway, so had an easier work-around than we did. But still, even just the extra retention slot IS significant. What is their plan, will they now rule on it after July 1st or just sweep it under the rug and hope nobody notices? It's $4M of real money that we're paying him. That alone should be significant to ownership. That's like our whole annual playoff revenue if we made the playoffs. :sarcasm: I think if they rule against Johansen and in favor of the Flyers the teams should actually get some kind of compensatory draft pick or something. We could have used that retention slot to get one at the TDL.

For Preds any savings are just found money. It’s ridiculous this has dragged on, but whether RyJo was fit to play feels more like a Flyers issue. We knowingly used our retention slot when we dealt him and had no expectation to get it back.
