We’re not a bottom team right now but we will be once we move Hayes and to a lesser extent Zucc and probably one or two more vets.

2018 Caps.

Then there's 12/14 Kings and 11 Bruins. I stopped searching at that point.

I didn't see the post you were replying to but if you are talking about centers:
Backstrom
Kopitar
Bergeron/Krecji

Those are all/were at the time top centers in the league.

It was never off.

Playoff pals will be back in full effect once they smoke Ottawa, but some of us saw beyond the smoke and mirrors.

Those that saw this team as a bottom three are the ones proving to be poor in foresight.

The rebuild is already underway because management is doing a pretty good job compared to some other teams.

Tanking a season in the hopes of landing a #1 pick, when your chances are 1 in 4, at best, is idiotic.

Edmonton got a generational player and they are hapless.

There are no guarantees and who wants to watch a team with crap players and an idiot coach.

Quinn is the best coach they have had in quite some time, yet some here still whine incessantly about him.

The 2011 Bruins had, I think, 8 guys drafted as centers among their 12 forwards.
Exactly where I’m at on this. I edited my other post after you quoted.

JT Miller was drafted as a center. He was a vastly better wing. Like you said tons of players are drafted as centers, but virtue of the best players at their age always playing center. Team Canada approach. Get the 12 best forwards possible and slot them in as applicable. Especially in today’s modern game, things are so fluid and always changing.

I say keep the best players and let it play out from there. Hayes has looked so good I’d hate to trade him for a lottery ticket.

Missed all but the 3rd period of this game bc work
How were Chytil/Gettinger/Lias in the first two periods?
They were fine. Lias and Gettinger both should have gotten assists but Skjei missed an open net.

I pointed out earlier in the season that the Rangers avoid Canadians like an STD.

Somebody informed me that we revamped our CHL scouting recently.

It seems the Rangers have identified this and maybe that will get things turned around.

Also, what's with this "well you don't really need X type of player" stuff? Why wouldn't you want to have a top player at every top position? The best teams all do. Why half-ass it?

Get as much high end talent as you can. Your chances are better the higher you draft.

When did we do this? I don't remember seeing it on here

Why are people talking about HOF centers and winning Cups when two of the league's top four rookie centers this season are Rangers?

It's a rebuild, people. Everything that matters in building a winner -- prospect depth, extra draft picks, coaching, cap room -- is trending upwards.
It's trending upwards but the franchise still isn't in our possession, unless you think Chytil is the franchise.

Because this is the worst franchise in the NHL at drafting centers. We need to stop doing that.

It is my one fear about the upcoming draft. This team is blind when it comes to drafting centers. I hope to the high heavens they aren’t ‘satisfied ‘ with the center position right now. If they are, then they’re not serious about contending for a Cup. Chytil is best on the wing, Howden may top out as a 2C, and I don’t have a good read on Andersson. I see redundancy more than depth. If they have a shot at Dach or Cozens, I really hope they don’t pass on them because of how good they feel about their centers. Just like there was no need to take Lindbolm when players like Wise and Olofsson were available.

This team could get it done with a 1-2-3 punch with Chytil and Howden plus another very good center. It doesn't have to be a future Hall of Famer, necessarily.

But this team needs an elite player. They don't draft elite players. They need to figure out why and address it. The excuses won't help them.

And that's the point I was making lol.

You need franchise players period. Doesn't need to be a center. I'll take a franchise winger.
