I would imagine they would have to add to RyJo to begin with, and to get retention they would have to add even more. What this also tells me is that Kaapo and MAF were too costly.

I'll believe it when I see it. That doesn't appear to be an "insider" account of any kind.

Also, IMO that'd be a pretty awful pickup. His underlying numbers this year are actually WORSE than Georgiev (by far), Prosvetov, or even Annunen. Not to mention he's got a not-great cap hit this season and next.

I mean, the team needs a backup. What they're doing with Georgiev is sheer idiocy. Imagine if he gets injured and we get to watch Annunen start...? Allen satisfies me as the #1B. What concerns me are the additions to pay for him and dump RyJo...especially if they're angling for retention on Allen (which they really should be).

You’re probably correct, but MTL needs to retain for this to make any sense for the Avs.

That should make it a no thank you from the Avs side. They can´t go into next season with an average backup making nearly 4M.
