Not apples to apples and he took a discount but there’s no reason Rantanen should make more than petey
Didn’t I tell you to go back to bed?Yikes. Now the guy is definitely going to avoid going into corners or doing dirty work. He as soft as butter. Just as soft as Marner and Nylander.
To some here it doesn't because "the window will be close by then". To a lot of us it does. That means it would be extremely hard to trade Mikko. I'm in the camp that trading Mikko doesn't close the window. For the right pieces it can in fact extend it. But to each his own.
RyJo for Kuz @50%?
I'd still hope we make a move for Henrique at least, but if they aren't going after a long term solution like Mittelstadt or Nelson at the deadline, swapping for Kuz and adding Henrique would at least give them two shots at finding a 2C they can win with instead of 1.
Again, I'd much prefer the legit solution of Mittelstadt, but I could see the Avs looking at that option.
You can maybe get away with having one Zadorov, Myers or Cole type on your blue line, who are just 3rd pair guys that shouldn’t get tons of ice time, but just be out there make the simple plays and not cost your team by making mistakes. The problem is, Nucks have all 3 of them and they’re supposed to be key to their d core, that’s where they’re in troublePart of why I hated the Zadorov trade. Nothing wrong with the value or player but why not target someone better and pay a little bit more. They just added a rich man’s Tyler Myers
"By then" pretty well means the first year of his contract. I just don't understand why people want to put themselves into that corner. If you trade him you give yourselves a pretty good chance to have other kicks at the can. You don't need two superstars and arguably a third one on your team to win a cup. Look at other teams contending now or in the past. With Mack, Makar and some very good supporting cast that will balance the lineup a lot better the Avs can still be a very strong contender. You obviously need to NOT f**k up that trade. It doesn't need to happen at this TDL also. It can be this summer but IMO it needs to happen or we have this year and MAYBE next year at the most to contend.Well, that's nice but the window will be closed by then, unless they do it immediately.
I haven't seen anything saying he's having his contract terminated. Thus, why waiving him seems so strange. Like Johnston said, I have a hard time seeing anyone claiminy him at that price. If he is on waivers for contract termination, I'd be more than happy to welcome here on a minimum contract for the rest of the year.
But yeah I wouldn't let him and Nuke room or hang out together on the road.

Anyway that is my 2 cents.

I don't think he fits with the Avs either. Unless they can get him for RyJo, and 75% retention, I'd pass.
If it’s this or no other 2c option I’d try it.No way to tell how he’d do here, it’d be worth a shot imo. Not an ideal scenario for sure but better than not accomplishing anything by deadline. Why? He's no better than Johansen and is an absolute cancer in the locker room. Do you just want us to make a move for the sake of it?
No freaking thanks.
Yeah, the problem I have with it is, as you say, f***ing up that trade. That's gonna happen almost no matter what, I think."By then" pretty well means the first year of his contract. NJ traded for Meier, VAN traded for Lindholm, CGY traded for Huberdeau (yes he was the best player at the time) and Weager and they all got worst. There are other examples out there about teams getting top players at the TDL and getting worst. Trading the best player in a trade doesn't mean you always lose the trade. You might take a hit the first year but it is often for the best long term IF, and it is a big IF) you don't f**k up the trade. So wait...we trade a superstar player and replace him with worse, cheaper players and we become better?
Yeah, ok.
Yeah, those players are not the same, though.NJ traded for Meier, VAN traded for Lindholm, CGY traded for Huberdeau (yes he was the best player at the time) and Weager and they all got worst. They are examples of trading the best player in the trade. It is the same thing...in Mikko's case it just means the return is better.Yeah, those players are not the same, though.
Either way, I think we're f***ed either way.
Definitely not me.Are people seriously wanting Kuznetsov?
Mmm. See what I think it means is we won't be able to replace him.It is the same thing...in Mikko's case it just means the return is better.
