Yep. Cap space is a complete non issue here. We have room to add whoever we want. Just a matter of actually being willing to pay to get it done.

We’re complaing about CMac, but forget this smart moves he makes, like trading Newhook for 1st and 2nd round picks. Now he trades Dermy, gets something in return and frees up cap space when everyone would just be happy to get rid of Dermy for nothing

Edit: everyone except @Sea Eagles

I feel like the Avs might not want RyJo eating up 4M heading into the playoffs. IMO he is gone by the TDL.

If cap space isn't an issue, it shouldn't have prevented any Tanev/Byram trades though.

Similarly, if cap space isn't an issue this year, they don't NEED to get rid of him. They can do that in the off season. Migth as well hold onto him. Maybe he's a better 4C option than Wagner, or maybe he steps his game up in the playoffs like usual?

In fact, if he isn't moved, I think he's probably ahead of Wagner in the depth chart. Even though I like Wagner. Especially given he's played ok with Parise, who would also be on that 4th line.

There is absolutely a chance of this, I'd say maybe 25% still got to find someone willing to eat that contract and buyout which won't come cheap.

Well this is just stupid. Of course everything can be done if you pay enough. In our case, it involves paying to get rid of RyJo, which costs additional assets.

I don't think opposing GM's view Byram the way HFAvs does.
As in a bust and a lost cause? Because from what I listened to Calgary radio earlier in the season, they would've been more than happy to package Lindholm AND some for Byram. At that point, they thought the Avs would not give up Byram for Lindholm and Tanev combined. It has been stated by multiple reports, that the Avs haven't really been shopping Byram in the past, probably not earlier this season either. They have tried to exhaust all other options.

It seems to me like the HFAvs are underrating what Byram is perceived as. It's obvious that here he is stuck behind Makar and Toews, and that he could really break out as a #1D in their team. They have seen Byram play like a stud in the Stanley Cup finals as well. Does that land us a proper #2C with term? It should.

I personally think he is cooked so we'll see. I hope the Avs think the same. Send him to Arizona.

Yeah I agree. And I don't think being stuck behind Toews at 22 is a big deal at all. Total non issue IMO.

Lots can change in the next few years, and he doesn't need to play on the top pair full time, to help the team. If anything, the smaller role might get him re-signed for cheaper.

Incorrect. They don't  have to move RyJo. They could add a $9M player today if they simply paid for double retention.

And, the funny thing is simply paying for double retention on a $9M player right now would actually cost less than paying a team to take on RyJo. All because of the 2nd year of his deal(This is also probably why they are trying so hard to dump him right now).

I still think that a deal with BUF has been done for a few days now for a 2C with Byram going the other way. Avs are getting cap space to fit Byram's replacement on D.

IDK how anyone works with Seravalli. Comes across as extremely unlikeable. On his Pod, he's always interrupting and talking down on what anyone else thinks. Like he thinks the rest of them are all stupid. Maybe it's just the East Coast thing, but he seems like a huge jerk.

Sure, if you are just talking about a rental. Which is obviously not what the Avs are looking for at this point.
