Yeah and it’s a weird balance between joy, but it also not turn into one of those nights at the bar where people feel no pain, get caught up in the moment and make some bold promises/statements, and then have to chase those things down when everyone sobers up.

This team’s better days are ahead. We just can’t lose sight of the bigger picture or make the mistake of thinking we are closer to the finish line than we are.

I’m somewhat confident management sees things that way. I can’t say the same for the fanbase, which can be expected. I’m still unconvinced this is a playoff team. Things are fun right now, but, things will get more difficult. I do not see both Pittsburgh and Washington finishing out of the playoffs. The Atlantic looks much tougher. And the majority of this streak has been done at home.

When I went to Vegas this year as a joke I put 5 bucks on the rangers to win the cup.

I'm starting to think I should put more.

Man, they are playing some really solid hockey.

Kreider has some well-documented, and not so well documented aspects of his psyche (for lack of a better word), that I think we would be wise to take into account before we start heaping too much of that on him.

I’d proceed with caution there.
Eh, I dunno. I certainly can’t deny those past issues you mentioned, but I think there’s been a noticeable change in him since returning from the blood clot, which has further solidified over the course of this year. It’s precisely why I made the comment.

That said, there’s certainly no need to rush such a decision. A lot of things still in flux on this team, regardless of the recent streak, as I know we both agree.

I understand people looking at this team and saying 'just wait for the slump and reality to set in'. There almost surely will be periods where we struggle but looking at this team--their 9-1-1 in their last 11 and a lot of that without what would have been two of our most key offensive forwards coming into this year--Zuccarello and Buchnevich. Really shit teams don't run off winning streaks like that and definitely not when they're missing key players.

Teams can ride a hot goalie or a hot superstar for 5, 10 game stretches...but this doesn't really feel like that. I honestly think they are just....playing really good hockey.

We've had slumps already.. difference is they only last a game or two. Not a quarter of the season.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t Detroit just run off 7 straight? I feel like everything is off this year. I’m pretty sure just about everyone had not only the Rangers, but also Montreal, Detroit and Ottawa as guaranteed bottom five teams. None of those teams are the dumpster fires they were predicted to be. And look at the standings for the Metro...six points separate the to teams from the bottom. And the Rangers are the only team that have played 22 games.

Lots of parity in the league right now. Some teams expected to be bad are playing much better and some of the usual strong teams are struggling and come down further in the standings than they usually are. Strange start to the season. Lots of coaching changes already too.

I think he has the perfect attitude and leadership — both reflected in his productivity this year. The commitment has always been there. I think he’s deserved our trust. Finally.

Not sure that I agree that this was our best effort all season thus far

Had 11 shots in the 1st and 22 overall meaning we defended quite a bit.

There was a long stretch in the 2nd period that that was all we were doing.

I'd like to see the team defend more in the opposing teams end. And not have to defend in our end for the stretches that we had to tonight.

I`m still not sure what to do with Brady Skjei - it was not that convincing and he need to step it up before the christmas holidays and early as friday next game against PHI. And Quinn mentioned it too in his interview - not convincing 1st period, but he had an okey 2nd and third, but you kind of expect more from him.

I’m not dead set against it, he could very well emerge as the ideal choice for the role.

I just know that it’s one thing to be one of the leaders, and another to have that C on your chest. In the past there have been guys for whom it’s been a heavier weight and I’m hesitant to underestime that.

In hockey especially, there’s a tendency to want to a player to be that face of the franchise — your most dangerous player, your leader, your star. And I get that — let’s be honest, it’s fun when that happens because it defines an era.

Kreider has been very vocal about being in his own head, and observers have commented on this issue as well. We finally have him looking like the player we’ve been dreaming about for 9 years, I want to take it slow.

And reading that back, I feel like I am telling you I want to see other people.

im already a believer . tonight just made me more so. this team is for real.

this team is onto something. quinn has them believing in themselves and working for each other and having fun and they have all bought into his system of execution and accountability. this team plays hard every night. this defense is defending. they play tram defense and the defense more than anything is getting the job done.

and finally were scoring some goals.

this team is fun to watch and i continue to believe they are coming together as a TEAM. and we did it tonight without buchnevich, smith and henrik.

over the last 10-11 games this team is as good as anyone in the league. after the start we had its weird to even say that

but its true.

They actually had 27 overall. It may not have been their best effort this year but it was good overall. The Piles were down by 3 after the first 10 minutes so a push back is to be expected. I'll take the win against them for the first time in a while.

I think it’s a cautionary tale to take things in stride because this year has been pretty weird and there’s not as much separating the bad from the good as there is in years past.

And as an older poster, it’s probably based on seeing this board go from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows within a short period of time. It’s not a pretty sight when that happens.

Kudos to @eco's bones for being the only poster here who picked ADA in tonight’s poll. I wanted to as well, but I decided on Georgy/Chytil/Shatty instead..

He should have more votes, imo. But it’s tough to do so when so many other players played a great game tonight.

The kid makes those smart little plays decisively. I don’t think anyone on this team has his vision. He made some really well timed defensive plays too.

He’s been awesome. I REALLY like having not only 1, but 3 RHD that can move puck and create plays from the blue line. Brings an element to this team that’s unique.

It’s all how Quinn has them working. Similar to Vegas last year. You can’t outskill teams you have to outwork them.

Parity has been a part of the NHL for a long time now. It's hard not to like the way this team is playing when so many thought there was no chance that they could be decent. They play hard and are a likable bunch. It's ok to enjoy the wins. I really don't think many people are expecting a playoff run or anything like that.
