I may be in the minority, but I am not interested in the remnants of the Hawks dynasty. Like, at all. Just don't want them here. I'm not saying it wouldn't work out, I just don't really like them for this team.

Would rather get someone hungry for their first Cup. Someone looking to make their name as a Bruin. It would be one thing if the Bruins had no prior Cup winners in house, but they do.
I don't think Dubas will trade with Donny :sarcasm:

I mean you also have to earn consistent ice time. Zboril played in 13 of the Bruins first 20 games this year and didn't impress enough to push for more regular time. I'd agree though that a change of scenary could be best for Zboril. He's played in 1 game since Thanksgiving and played less than 7 minutes.

its easy to say get someone hungry for their first cup as most of the NHL fits that bill. Someone looking to make their name as a Bruin though? What guy is already in the NHL thinking "man I really want to make a name for myself as a Boston Bruin".....likely none.

I don't think anyone out there, getting paid to play for another team is thinking that right now.

However, getting a guy who has been around the block and understands how hard it is to win a cup and how close this team is to doing it, seems to make sense.

Think Nathan Horton -- good player with Florida --- great player here for a lot of his time and 3 seasons here -- 7-8 with Florida but will always be thought of as a Bruin -- IMO.

It's more a way of excluding Kane and Toews than anything else. There are several ways to win and several lineups to win with.
I'd just rather see someone come here as Chris Kelly and Rich Peverely did and have their most identifiable moments here. It's a preference. Winning is #1 of course.

Did you feel the same way when the Bruins acquired Mark Recchi?

I don’t know about your beer league but mine is way too intense. The scouts are watching us after all :sarcasm::laugh:
I`ve all but given up on "beer leagues", instead, me and about 20 dudes who all know one another get together and have a blast for an hour. Skill level is all over the map and I don`t care, nobody going into the corners sticking their 50-60 year old elbows in anyone`s chops, no BS, just a bunch of guys , most , myself included, looking to shed a lb or two, having some fun.

Only downfall is ice hard to come by and we play at 10:30 which is waaaaaaaaaay past my bedtime but rather that then the Beer League`s I have been part of in my few yrs on the island.

Had a great 6 team league in Halifax, no BS there either, no hero`s thinking they were gonna get camp invites

So a guy like Toews. He's been around the block and won a few cups, but its been 8yrs since he's won a cup. Hell its been 5yrs since CHI was actually competitive and if not for the weird pandemic playoff season he'd have gone 5yrs without a playoff appearance. Have to think he knows how hard it is to win a cup all things considered.

Heres my trade proposals:

Boston gets
Andrew peeke

Columbus gets
Matt grzcelyk
Frederic brunet

Boston gets bigger younger cheaper under longer deal on back end.

Columbus gets a vet and a prospect having a good year. (Boston saves close to 3M On cap for this year). Columbus does this trade because it gives them a replacement level player to peeke in grzcelyk with a long term more team controlled dman with high upside in brunet who will be a pro as grizz contract runs out.

Boston gets more size for a tough playoff series and a potential shut down pair with forbort or carlo. Also a long term bottom 4 lhd who can kill penalties and provide some offense as well.

Trade 2:
Boston gets jakub chychrun

Arizona gets
1st
Lohrei
C. Smith
Zboril

Boston solidifies itself as best d core for long and short term as the c depth long term is looking modest they decide to go all in this year and adopt the “center poor, d strong” approach that worked for nashville a decade ago as a long term plan. Trades a first a upside d in vaakananiens mold in zboril, the big lohrei dman who you dont need with 3 dmen now signed long term from the left side and all resignable.

Trade 3

Boston gets pat kane (50% retained)
2nd

Chi gets jake debrusk
2nd

Pick swaps benefit boston as debrusks contract situation is better than kanes and chicago can grow with him on the wing as he fits the age to be apart of their long term plan. Also brings some playoff experience for what will be a young team once toews and kane leave.

Boston now a juggernaut for this season and defense is locked in for the next half decade.
Zona hangs up on that putrid offer. Smith zboril ?? Lohrei as the main piece and no 1st round pick in the offer?? Jeez louise.

Can I get me some sweet Chycrun?

Locked in for 2 more years at $4.6 million. He fits in the cap. Donny wants a solution for the future as well as the present instead of giving up assets for a UFA who walks. It's the (Hall, Lindholm) pattern. Major upgrade on an already tough D!

1st+Zboril+Smith +(Insert prospects here)

What if Chycrun wants to come to the Bruins and told the Yotes that? Noticed his former NHL playing father (Jeff) is on the broadcasting team for the Florida Panthers. Why would he not want to go to Florida? Who else is trying to work a deal for him?

Craig Smith would be the salary dump, like Moore in the Lindholm trade.

Right now he has no trade protection. The Yotes probably do their best to put him in a place he'd prefer, but at the end of the day they're going to take the best offer on the table.

Agreed, but they might consider a small accommodation? Get the feeling the Kings are in on this, but maybe the Yotes want to trade him to an Eastern Conference team?

Wonder if we crossed blades ODAAT. Last couple years I've returned to The Forum "don't care" pick up. Wanted to be there where I skated for the very first time before the big tear down of the 96 year old building. Four generations of us on that same sheet. Its being redeveloped and with that goes a ton of great memories...
