This is almost the exact forward group I'd like to see next year. I'd re-sign Hinostroza, and Janikowski to give the team depth.

I want Cozens on the wing. I get the idea of having a big, fast center, but his size and speed are best used on the wing.

Quinn at LW is a good call. I think that's his position. Agree with Krebs as well. Let Peterka work his way up, and if he's not ready, bring Ruotsalainen up.

I am not in favor or signing a big gun at forward. I think this group has the potential to grow and get a lot better (see Detroit as the case-in-point). I'd add a RHD via trade or free agency, and re-sign Pysyk.

If I'm spending this off-season, it's for a goaltender.

Adding two rookies to a forward group that is 25th in Goals For/Game is asking for another meh year.

Sure, it'll be a full season of Tuch, a full season of Krebs, hopefully development and steps forward from other guys as well. However, in the real world, I don't know if that is enough to get us to middle of the pack scoring wise. I guess it depends on what your goal is for next season. If its another punt year, its probably fine to accept incremental progress. However, if you want to seriously be in the hunt for the playoff spot, large, aggressive changes need to be made.

If Buffalo is doing this the way they SHOULD (ie, NOT the Murray way)............there won't be many, if any, large/aggressive changes. I think KA has ownership sold on the slow, steady route.

Next year is yet again about development and seeing what we have and where we need to add long-term.

I'm SURE KA sees the need for actual goaltending next year. If we get league-average goaltending and incremental improvements from the kids......we'll be on the fringes of the playoff race most of the year.

I'm surprised most not mentioning Hino for next year (or even getting healthy this year). He's like Top 3 in even strength points. They absolutely should re-sign him and for multiple years!

Are we really talking Krebs as a 1C already? Be better of signing someone off season and bump Girgs from 4C. Hell I'm the odd man out but I'd rather see 1 of the Strome brothers in than Krebs playing 1C next year.

You're point on Cozens is exactly how I feel. Especially with the emergence of Tage, the need of a big fast center is not as big of a priority now then it was when we drafted Cozens. If Dylan can come back next season 10-15 lbs heavier than add the skills he already has, we can have another Tuch like winger out of him.

So, league 'median' GA average (on a team basis) is 2.89 GA/G.

League 'median' GF average (on a team basis) is 2.93 GF/G

We are scoring at 2.62 GF a game.

The issue is, goals against is not simply a function of goaltending. We have a bad defense. Our forwards aren't great defensively. Part of that is a function of the youth, part of that is the makeup of the forward group.

I don't think we're quite to a 'find a problem, fix a problem' stage with the team. Goaltending is low hanging fruit. As is a long term partner for Dahlin. Even if we solve for both of those, this isn't a playoff team. Maybe a .500 or so, but that translates to 10-14 points out of the playoffs at the end of the year. I don't like the overall makeup of the forward group yet, I think there are missing roles that I don't know if they will develop internally or not.

I think we can simultaneously be aggressive in retooling the team without burning through every asset you have as Murray did. They really need an 'architect' to come in at this stage and start molding and building the collection of assets we have into an actual structured team. They need ownership to be willing to spend and a GM who is willing to spend futures to improve the team today, something Adams has not been willing to do.

I think slow and steady is the right way 95% of the time, but you can't be afraid to pull the trigger on upgrades when and where you can via trades and free agency.

We could really use a McDonagh(but right handed)/Miller type trade. And a Sergachev(but right handed) trade.

Or a Dougie Hamilton/Alex Pietrangelo in free agency.

Finding a vet top pairing RHD that will work well with Dahlin or Power that you can plug & play in the lineup next season is going to be easier said than done.

Is it even a "Top pairing" vet that they need or someone who can be good opposite one or the other of those two? Troy Stecher is someone Power worked well with and I don't think anyone is going to say he's going to be hard to land to provide Power with a stable partner.

Looks like the Wild need to move Dumba this offseason. What's our interest level and what would we pay?

I've had others here tell me the Wild will move other players before letting Dumba go.

I would trade for him. A trade that includes Johnson or something like:

1st, 2nd, and Asplund

If they had held onto Suter I'd tend to agree, but I think they resign him and roll with Spurgeon, Brodin, Dumba as 3 of their top 4 for the next 5 years.

I’d throw a 2x9 mil contract at Letang if he makes it to UFA. He’d be a perfect fit for our very young d core as a mentor while still being generally very good.

While I agree that the idea of Letang is perfect for mentoring the kiddos....................

We don't need another offense-first, defense-meh defenseman.

honestly yeah Johnson makes a lot of sense here. I’d probably like to try Johnson at RD to see what we have there. Maybe Joker and a 1st could do It. I think if you put a gun to my head for Johnson+ for Dumba I would do It though

why can’t we just develop our very young forward core? Large aggressive changes? No thanks
