Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. Penguins and Sabres have been scouting each other a ton.
I don't see any fits for either squad. Pettersson or Kapanen is the only two players that would make sense to go to BUF. The only players I can think the Pens would be scouting are Okposo or Olofsson. Okposo they couldn't fit in, but maybe the Sabres move him out at 50%? Olofsson for Kapanen seems like fair value, but I kinda hate that deal from PIT's perspective.

A UFA is much more likely as a trade candidate than Okposo is.

Honestly, I don’t understand what either of these teams would want with each other.
The only other player I keep coming back to is Psysk.

Pettersson literally makes zero sense for Buffalo, we're overwhelmed on the LD. Not sure about Kapanen for Olofsson, maybe Olofsson will be more valuable for us.

Yeah, I don’t understand why they are scouting each other so much. Don’t make a ton of sense in terms of trading partners.

Marino would make a lot of sense for Buffalo because we need top 4 RD, but I guess he's just not available.

Really? Well Pens right side doesn't look the best for the near future. What would Pittsburgh ask for Marino?

Yes. He doesn’t fit with Matheson and we need more size. From Buffalo. Probably something like Miller, a 2nd and a piece like Peterka.

Oh, that would be painful, we are unlikely to trade Peterka. What about Jokiharju+? If you want Miller, he could be in the deal too.

Nah. It’d need to be a young ELC forward or RD who can be in the NHL for us next year.

Jokiharju + Olofsson 50% retain + 2nd for Marino + Kapanen
Miller 50% retain + Olofsson 50% retain + 2nd for Marino

There’s Ryan Johnson, who plays both sides at Minnesota (it’s unknown if he’s going back for his 4th year next season), Ruotsalainen (to me he’s Olofsson lite, and I think he gets badly misused in Buffalo, but there’s also a reason I’m not making NHL decisions outside of EA Sports), possibly one of the 2022 1sts that isn’t Buffalo’s, and a bunch of flotsam and jetsam available. Of course, these all have different levels of value.
How about this, though? Marino for Miller (50%), Bjork (50%) OR Ruotsalainen (both older players that would cost the same as an ELC) and one of the Vegas or Florida 1sts (whichever is better) OR Johnson.
Or the pick, Johnson and the same conditions on Bjork or R2 for Marino and Angello?

the only players on current roster I’d have any interest in would be Kapanen and Marino.
Botts isn’t here anymore so we aren’t Pittsburghs farm team/ boy toy.
Pittsburgh does have a need for forwards next year while buffalo could have a surplus of low cost ones. Pittsburgh coukd be tight with cap space.

they need toget to the floor by getting 3 players making around $14M ( including Olofsson) then the rest could be ELC/ low cost to make the floor. But that doesn’t give them room fir 2023 deadline moves like trading Okposo.
i could see buffalo clearing up some pkayer space.
trade Something like Asplund+ Bjork+ Fitzgerald + Ruoats + for Marino+ Zucker +
the above is just an example…not a debate on value of a trade.
the idea is emptying out some roster spots for higher salaried players where the net gain in the cap is around $5M more to buffalo and freeing up some 23 man roster spots.

Keep hearing that expression from Sabre fans and keep seeing the team put appreciably worse players than those so described on the ice.
