I think it's pretty obvious mctavish is getting moved at this point. Question is, for RD or 2C.

I personally think it will be a mistake to rely on Granlund to fill the 2C spot, not because of ability, but availability.
Apparently Granlund means Glass in Finnish so I have been told.

I think we need to be very careful that we’re not subtracting too much offense to become a better defensive team.

Carolina lead the league in goals this year. You have to be a very good offensive team to win a Stanley Cup in this era. They went and added Ehlers to an already very good team last offseason. They brought in Taylor Hall. Etc, etc

I’m not saying Verbeek has gone down the path of subtracting too much offense yet but losing McTavish, Carlson, and Zellweger and replacing them with gritty defense only guys is a bit concerning to me at the surface.

All of those players added secondary scoring. Carlson for a very short amount of time and McTavish barely any. Zellweger would be the biggest offensive loss but he's not really on the PP because of other players. If the Ducks added someone like Larkin, Thomas, Knies, etc... it would easily replace the loss in offense. Verbeek has been linked to both adding on defense and offense.

The inability to sign pending UFAs is becoming a troubling trend. Trouba is especially someone that we should have been able to come to terms with and I don’t see his desire to go back East nearly as strong as with Carlson. Are we going to be this inflexible when Carlsson and Gauthier are close to unrestricted free agency

We're all assuming he wanted to stay. He knew he was being forced out of NY. It might just be we were the best option. Now he can go where ever he likes.

Friedman on Toronto radio just said it sounds like Trouba is heading to market July 1 as well

That's a shame. Hateball's comment about turning the right side around is happening sooner rather than later, I guess.

Hopefully that means Moore and Luneau get to play.

Massive hole on the top pair, though.

Trouba is one of the biggest names on the market. He'd be stupid not to hit FA. And you have 0 clue if he even wanted to come back. Hell, even Getzlaf tested FA but ultimately re-signed

Or......Trouba realizes this is his last contract and wants to get paid and his ask would financially throw the Ducks out of whack. Its not always the team's fault IMO.

I think PV is pretty hard on the years…. My guess is Trouba wants 6+, and PV was only comfortable going to 4 years.

It’s fine I think that’s the right move, we’ll know for sure when Trouba signs his deal

I think it is good that we aren't signing these guys at all costs. Trouba had a good 1.5 years here, but isn't someone we should overpay for.
Totally agree. It would have been nice but he wasnt great before he came here and still has a lot of warts. He probably wants a huge contract with term that wont age well.

It's good business to buy depreciating assets and then let them go when they become overvalued again. It's why I wouldn't mind nurse if he can be retained down to $7 million or so.
