In a few years, as long as our core 4 + Solberg and McQueen are around. And someone like Parayko is still playing well. I like our chancesMy goal at this point is to not get worse, without burning every asset we will need to actually push over the hump in a couple years when we should be contending.
My concern is that Moore and Hinds are ripe for the sophomore slump. Playoff teams don’t rely on 5 kids.I do want to see a vet added for one of those spots but I'm quite adamant that Moore can quickly grow into a no nonsense top 4 minute muncher if given a chance.
There's also one large wild card that doesn't seem to get mentioned but that is that Q absolutely loves Hinds, who has plenty experience playing either side. Despite the lack of NHL experience (heck he at least has more NHL playoff games than a lot of guys), I wouldn't be shocked to see him thrown right into the fire and playing significant minutes right off the hop.
I'd feel a lot better about the roster on paper if we had a proven top 4 RHD but I also don't want to make any major expenditure on some passable top 4 guy only to find that we have multiple internal options who can fill those minutes. There's a line somewhere between making LaCombe babysit or actually giving a young Dman a chance to prove they can be a suitable partner. Trouba definitely gave us that one veteran default option if all else failed, I get that.
Moore turns 25 mid season, not really a kid anymore. Has a season under his belt, even if a lot of it was on the wing. He has all the physical attributes of a defensive minute muncher who can move pucks in a top 4 role. I'm quite good with giving him 18+ mins per night playing with one of our top lefties and working him into the PK mix.
We stopped playing Moore at defense altogether. I don’t know why that needs to reverse now… We’ve got Luneau now who can probably handle the minutes that will be given to him.My concern is that Moore and Hinds are ripe for the sophomore slump. Playoff teams don’t rely on 5 kids.
I would take Robertson all day
Mike Grier doing a really good job. Not just a brilliant trade but he stopped the Ducks from getting the 9th overall pick for McTavish +.You're mind reading again of what could be done.
SJ isn't looking to win the cup today. They're still filling out their organization with talent. They found LD Dickinson at #11 overall in 2024 while using their #1OA on C Celebrini.
There could be a possibility that SJ was thinking about drafting a defenseman at #2 overall because they needed high end talented blueliner in their pipeline. SJ probably felt that Stenberg was more of a sure prospect compared to the defensemen available. Thereby reducing the risk at what to do at #2 overall. By acquiring the 9th overall pick, SJ potentially improves their scoring winger from Eklund to Stenberg at pick #2. Stenberg scored at a much higher pace than Eklund as an 18-year old in the SHL. Then they use the #9 pick for a defensemen, where they are guaranteed to grab one of the high tiered d-men.
He’s already slow + now he’s getting paid. What’s his motivation?Just seems like a player who will get really slow in his 30s.
He already skates like 41 yearold Corey Perry. Is Robertson the Dallas era Luka Doncic in terms of conditioning ? Like he needs to do some do some better training to move faster than a 41 yearold.Just seems like a player who will get really slow in his 30s.
I could see a MacT + pick for Risto+tippet if the beeker likes those players. But I think that the beeker doesnt like the unknown of what Risto would want on his next deal. I think he loves him some cost controlled certainty wirh the big horse paraykoi wonder about Ristolainen and if Verbeek would have interest. Not sure the cost.
I would be against that pretty strongly. I’d like to get Risto without giving up McT for him and think we could.I could see a MacT + pick for Risto+tippet if the beeker likes those players
Well saidI would be against that pretty strongly. I’d like to get Risto without giving up McT for him and think we could.
Then move McT for Knies

He already is slow. Those guys tend to age better because they've already figured out how to be successful without elite athleticism.Just seems like a player who will get really slow in his 30s.
Gun to your head. Does Robertson give you more of a pay check player vibe?He already is slow. Those guys tend to age better because they've already figured out how to be successful without elite athleticism.
I have no idea. I know as an employee myself, I also like to get paid the most that I can.Gun to your head. Does Robertson give you more of a pay check player vibe?
The stars have had him for years in trade rumors. He isnt anything close to a heart and soul player. Evident by him wanting max term and dollar on a true cup contender in a tax free state. I really hope he gets paid max dollar and becomes the next cheechoo.I have no idea. I know as an employee myself, I also like to get paid the most that I can.
Minty for knies package could happen. While MacT is used for a parayko packageZero chance we can compete with other teams for Knies. Mctavish is our best asset and he’s “damaged goods” right now. We’ll have to wait to get the scraps, dont see us getting any of the big names out there
Viel parm is back on a nice nice deal. Sooner than laterAre we really going to lose Viel? I mean, how much is he asking for? I was hoping we added both Viel and Greer, but are we really striving to be the softest team in the league? Common Beeker... Viel is the absolute minimum resigning before the draft...

Minty doesnt have that kind of value. People are really overvaluing our assets to the degree people make fun of other teams fans on the trade boards wanting our better players for lower value pieces.Minty for knies package could happen. While MacT is used for a parayko package
At the deadline the ask for Risto was a 1st++. At that price I'd rather go for Parayko.i wonder about Ristolainen and if Verbeek would have interest. Not sure the cost.
