Cant teach sizeReally on the Canadian brass for not bringing Walton. He's 6'6. It's not like he's hiding.

The way I see it is if you are at a tourney like this as a vet and captain, and you can't raise your game to lead at this level there is no way in hell you're doing it in the NHL. Obviously a very small sample size but he didn't look dangerous at all last night against Latvia of all teams.I dont really see anything special about Yager. So vanilla. Shot yes i guess, but he doesnt seem to have the other tools to be able to get his shot off consistently. Certainly someone who if he's going to play in your top 6 needs to be surrounded by much more talented players.
50 point 2C is probably a very good outcome for him and even then that's probably way down the road. Maybe Ive just seen his worst games tho.

The stacked approach or the role playing approach?
Cirelli is one of the best 2 way players in the league and just made the World Cup team. Bennett is one of the most competitive and physical forwards in the game. I don’t see Yager as having any similar dimensions to his gameSo essentially Little, which is what most predict him as being if he hits.
He is a player that will take what the opposition gives him, but doesn't have the same tools to create lanes and chances for himself and linemates as KC, Fly, Scheifele, and Perfetti do.
He has the smarts and instincts to find the holes and capitalize on chances set up be his linemates. Add in defense and faceoffs and being a good two way 50 point C is valuable. Florida and Tampa have both won cups with similar 2C's.
I think this years coach is over matched with out elite all star players that he’s had in the past when he coached team Canada b4…
This years and last years team have and had no Chemistry.
Canada wins with heart and this years team and last years team are devoid of that Quality to go far in this tourny.
I predict a first round exit for team Canada.

TSN is really playing up the Leafs prospect for TO viewers, down to the “player x is ready to come on the ice” commentary. Heads up Gord, don’t care when EASTON COWAN is getting ready to get on or off the ice.Our top line is really underwhelming. Cowen has to be one of the most overrated players I've ever seen. Ritchie is ok but really isn't a top end center.
I'm sorry, sir. This is HFJetsThink i'll just wait and see how Yager plays in a Jets uniform in what could be 2 years from now before writing him off completely.
Oh right i forgot, Yager sucks , won't amount to shit and.......I'm sorry, sir. This is HFJets
Only hot takes and recency bias are allowed here
And bouncy gifs
.........It's as if his considerable past accomplishments mean nothing with the knee jerk crowd. He will be a fine jet prospect. He had a bad game as did the entire team, and how often have we seen this with the jets and other teams. It's hockey!Think i'll just wait and see how Yager plays in a Jets uniform in what could be 2 years from now before writing him off completely.

Imagine they could replace the 4th "checking line" with a line of:Role-playing, I'd say.
Elite talent will out. Stack a team with it and try to find a way for them all to play together, and profit.
Or, pick a paper team made up with a player for every slot from 1-4F/ 1-3 D and watch them play those roles against the elitest talent available elsewhere, and hopefully rack some wins.
Good old Hockey Canada, tho I'm expecting the "start slow and win out" arguments to be made in defence of them.
Hats off to the Latvian minnows though -- nice to see them playing so well.
I saw an interview with Easton Cowan. I was not impressed. He comes off as the rich kids whose parents paid his way to the squad. If he is in the leadership group then yikes. TsN hype machine also sucks the air out of this tourney with the goal song garbage and creating stories rather than letting them happen naturally.I think this years coach is over matched with out elite all star players that he’s had in the past when he coached team Canada b4…

The Finnish goalie was unreal, stopped 3 breakaways during the game. And the US loses to Finland in OT
1. What does enrollment in other countries look like over the same periodI think Canada's reign as a dominant hockey country is officially over.
This is what happens when middle class Canadian families can barely afford food...
Nevermind the cost of having kids or enrolling their kids in hockey.
Total number of registered ice hockey players in Canada from 2013/14 to 2022/23

I mean it looks like it is trending back to the average post COVID.
But I'd say there is a lot more competition now and Canada won't dominate every tournament.
