Latvian goalie is having quite the game

My takeaways from tonight's game:

1) Latvian goalie f***s hard. He's the only reason the game is tied.
2) Canada f***ing sucks for their discipline. 11 penalties in 2 games can't continue.
3) Canada doesn't attack the middle that hard. Too many perimeter plays and trying to dangle through players. 56 shots on net, but I expected better from Canada. Quantity notwithstanding, they need to do better.

Reminds me of the 2011 or 2012 team, whichever one won bronze. Zero chemistry and offensive zone strategy seems to always prefer having a forward in the high slot.

Well, can't say that wasn't deserved. Play a stupid undisciplined game and get what you deserve.

Good for Latvia. Coaching needs to really reevaluate how the team plays.

Just played like they were asleep 1/2 the game. Can’t take that many penalties and expect to win.

So many low percentage shots. Even guys like McKenna are playing dumb low probability offensive hockey. Seems like a coaching issue to me.

Maybe Team Canada is regretting leaving out so many of the top junior scorers?

Yeah something has to change. Even last game I noticed the lack of offensive capability to attack the middle of the ice and create lanes for passes and set plays.

Interesting comment. I was just talking to my brother in law who played high level junior hockey and he was saying something very similar.

He had some really nice vision and made some good passes but I think all of use were hoping to see a bit more from him.

Thought he was one of Canada's better players thru most of today's game vs Latvia (LOL Canada lost to Latvia) but he had a bad last shift and a bad shift in OT. Took an unenthusiastic attempt in the shootout.

Ultimately this falls on the coaching staff who implements the system and management who picked the players.
