Lebrun on TSN:

"At this moment, trading Casey Mittelstadt is not a priority for the Avalanche. He has 2 years left on his deal after this one, not desperate to move him. Now, the center market is very thin and things could change quickly if a team like New Jersey make an offer worth Colorado's while, but they hold the chips after acquiring Nelson and making the center market even more scarce."

That's why we have to sell him now. Summer the prices are always a bit lower in my eyes. Teams try to get rid of fat and good players move for pretty nice valuations.

Move Mitts now.

Carlo or Tanev today would be ok. If any other trade comes through that can somehow reduce the icetime for 8 and 29 until the playoffs, all the better for it. Make sure they aren't exhausted from overuse (and 4 nations). LETS GOAVS

If Logan Stankoven is indeed traded, a lot of folks where I live (Kamloops) who bought his Stars jersey (seriously its everywhere!!) will be pissed haha.

Mikko gonna price himself to a shit team at this rate.

Maybe he does want to return to Colorado? Avs trade away Mitts + Colton + Wood, and give Mikko $12 × 7, and he would fit cap wise...

Of course, there wouldn't be a Nelson re-signing, or Lindgren, and Landy would have to go to LTIR, but they would have Mikko back...

Anyone else kinda want Dallas to give up a bunch of young cost controlled guys and sign Rants to a 13 or 14x 8 contract?

I just don’t think it’s good asset management and could really hurt them. He could become their Tavares and then you watch Johnston want that type of money on his next deal too

Long-term it would hurt them for sure.

That reads like LeBrun has been briefed by Sakic to let other GM's know "Pay our asking price for the last center available or go home".

Yea mitts needs to be moved. Prob best option on the market at center. Couldnt produce on the 2nd line and now will be on the 3rd dropping his value even more in the offseason

Carolina finding out why Cmac wasn't letting anyone discuss an extension with Rants before trading him
Brilliant move by Cmac there, especially if dallas and Rants are unable to agree on an extension.

While Cmac could’ve potentially maximized the return if he allowed teams/Carolina to discuss an extension with Mikko, he knew Mikko would insist on the moon and that there’s a snowballs chance in hell he actually signs. Better to have kept Carolina guessing/thinking they could re-sign him, than to clue them into the fact they couldn’t.

Maybe he had an idea that he was never signing with Carolina. It's possible. He played them.
