I believe the trade is agreed to. The extension though is gonna take work.
Right now?
Lehkonen - MacKinnon - Necas
Drouin - Nelson - Nichushkin
Kiviranta(Landeskog) - Mittelstadt - Colton
Kelly - Drury - O'Connor
Wood/Vesey
Toews - Makar
Girard - Manson
Lindgren - Malinski
Middleton
Blackwood
Wedgewood
I think we need another 3RD to back up Malinski.
Insane depth down the middle or amazing return for Mitts? Good place to be.Lebrun on TSN:
"At this moment, trading Casey Mittelstadt is not a priority for the Avalanche. He has 2 years left on his deal after this one, not desperate to move in. Now, the center market is very thin and things could change quickly if a team likes New Jersey make an offer worth Colorado's while, but they hold the chips after acquiring Nelson and making the center market even more scarce."

Gotta think atm, outside of something crazy, the forwards are set. Although I would love for the Avs to grab someone that can score in a reduced role, but could also move up the line up if needed. Just don't think it's necessarily in the cards, Beds loves Kivi and Kelly, so it would be hard to see him remove those 2 from the line up for a new arrival, plus I am all aboard the Landy is returning for playoffs train.Right now?

They have tons of capspace for next year, and retaining 50% for this year should not be a problem.Dallas will have to have a plan to free up the space to fit his cap hit in. Teams will know they are desperate to unload guys too, so they could get bent over.
Love this. Running MacKinnon/Nelson/Mittelstadt/Drury down the middle is stuff dreams are made of. If they can hammer out a trade for Dawson Mercer for Colton, then another depth D, I'm over the moon.Lebrun on TSN:

A man can dream, right?
What if Mitts is much worse than the average 3C? Both in effort given and in regular/advanced stats?I'm honestly fine with either option of trading Mitts for futures/immediate help OR keeping him and having insane center depth of Mack/Nelson/Mitts/Drury.
Imagine being Rantanen and refusing an extension in Carolina, then refusing an extension in Dallas so Carolina can recoup assets, and then, have to sit in Carolina for the next 20 games…
Quick someone post that animated meme of the orange doll who looks around all awkwardly

Is it still insane depth because it looks good on paper?
Yeah way more likely that either Mitts is 4C and that line gets 5-10 minutes a game, or he shifts to the wing. What if Mitts is much worse than the average 3C? Both in effort given and in regular/advanced stats?

The f*** are you smoking. The jets have no 2C and the depth is meh at best. Dallas's D is a jokeMan Dallas is going to be a tough out for the Avs. Central is general is f***ed. Still feels like the Avs roster is a step behind the Stars and Jets too.
The problem isn't this year. Next year, they have to also re-sign Johnston, who has already turned down an $8M per year, Benn, Lundqvist, Bourque, and Duchene for next year. Add in Mikko's $12M deal and you're talking upwards of $36M for those players. The year after that, Robertson, Stankhoven, and Harley need new deals. And I'm not even counting some of their other UFAs that they will have to let walk. They have tons of capspace for next year, and retaining 50% for this year should not be a problem.
