Imagine being Rantanen and refusing an extension in Carolina, then refusing an extension in Dallas so Carolina can recoup assets, and then, have to sit in Carolina for the next 20 games…

Quick someone post that animated meme of the orange doll who looks around all awkwardly
I'm seeing more this

I've long thought for a year now that when July 1st hits, Mikko will be a free agent and have one of those stupid ass John Tavares come and meet with me and my agent festivals.

The guy wants as much money as he can get and the best way to do that is to be a UFA on July 1st. I believe Marner will be right there with him.
Untrue, at UFA he can only get 7 years and there's no way someone will offer him something totaling more than he'd get with a 8 year deal. It'd have to be like 2M more in AAV than what Canes or Stars are offering him.

Btw a few have wished for him to come back here. Even at 7x13M which is less than what we offered to him, we'd have to not re-sign Drouin, Nelson, Lindgren, plus send out Colton and Wood with league min replacements. Also lose one or both of Necas and Lehkonen soon after.

Getting Marchand would be so much fun, but don't know what would be needed to be given up to grab him. I'd also be disappointed if Cmac focused on Carlo.

Honestly, don't think Mitts is in the cards to be moved out. Use him as 3C, plus insurance incase of injuries you need him to move back up to top 6.

Plus, it allows flexibility in the offseason. He is still signed, so if say he shows up in the playoffs like he did last season, or basically does anything to regain the confidence of Beds and Cmac, it's not as painful to not resign Nelson.
Or if the Avs look to resign Nelson, you can move out Mitts, I'm sure he would still hold some decent value around the league, no matter how much people around here have fallen out of favour with him

Yeah no Marchand. Avs can't afford another very expensive rental too old to re-up.

Mitts at 3C looks good on paper but he's so f***ing bad. Like much worse than the average 3C.

Why would you be disappointed with Carlo? Good defence goes a long way in the playoffs.

Boston and Colton would.
Colton would be closer to home, driving distance. So maybe he wouldn't say no.

Guy can't make a 5 foot pass under pressure, let alone the goal line to red line pass that Bednar's system demands.

A Lindgren/Carlo bottom pair would be nightmare fuel watching them attempt to leave the zone.

I hope Rantanen has some kind of moral code. All those hard fought battles playing against the Stars and making lifelong friends in the process. That stuff just doesn't go away.

We aren't getting Carlo, we need D that can move the puck out like Malinkski can, but who are better than Malinski.

We aren't gonna like it much, but Joker is the option that makes the most sense especially if we can get Buffalo to retain

CMac looks genius for trading Rantanen right now.

Looking like Rants isn’t interested in extending in season, Canes have to now sell him as a UFA/rental and will need an offer better than what they gave us to save face (they won’t get it or it’ll be futures which is just a terrible look).

Friedman basically just called Dreger a joke at Sportsnet 650 Vancouver for that report on the Rantanen Dallas trade potentially not coming to fruition. Friedman says it’s basically done.

So what will the line up look like? Landeskog may return. If the AVS move some combination of Rosco, Wood or mitts then they could get a 3c and another 3RD. That’d be a true PO contender.

Dreger reminds me of Brick from Anchorman

Wtf when will you dudes be satisfied?

I'm watching TSN Tradecentre and Dreger has doubled down saying it's dead in the water if Rantanen doesn't accept an extenison.
Well, Friedman did say too that Dallas wants that extension done (or nearly done) before they pull the trigger, but pretty convinced it's going to get there.
