My favorite comment in the last 24 hours (and I’m sorry i am not responding to that but it is buried and i don’t have time to go find it).

Was something along the lines of we did our tweaking in offseason with adding top 6 center (PLD), a top scoring Dee (Chychrun), most in-demand stay at home Dee (Roy), a veteran goalie (LT), and middle six scoring forward (Mangiapane). We also did a 3C upgrade early in season. Moves don’t have to happen just at TDL. So Kudos to this post.

Love Eller but he is washed. Stop trying to say he isn’t. Just watch him play.
I do watch him play, and he's not washed. His legs are still there. He's still very good along the boards and strong defensively. Mangiapane, Raddyish, and Duhaime all have significantly higher xGF%s w/ Eller than w/o him. His WoWY charts paint the picture of a guy who makes his teammates better. I am not saying he can't be upgraded or that he's a perfect 3C but he's far from washed and he's not nearly the bum he's being made out to be.

Any interest in Pat Maroon as a 13th forward? Wouldn't cost much, would build on a team strength - size, physicality - and would re-distribute some of the rough stuff load off Wilson, so in the playoffs he can be more the 30 goal guy he's going to end up being and less the only threat to take care of business when opponents' start to take liberties with our guys.

Also, he was something of a Cup (or Cup final) charm for like 4 years.

Yeah, and those moves have gotten them this far. But other teams are now loading up to match.

Re: chemistry/vibes... the locker room survived that massive overhaul in the offseason, I think it can survive adding one guy. This isn't something that's brand new this year, it's something I even referenced in terms of being optimistic last summer with all of the uncertain big moves.

Days like today re-reveals who are the doom-and-gloomers

Winning the Cup isn't going to be by winning 6-2 16 times

It's going to be a lot of 2-1 and 3-2 games playing Team D with great goaltending and a strong D corps
you are right but do you believe ghost of Eller, Mangiapane, Frank, and Raddysh and so on will score the timely goal required to win the cup like smithpelly, eller, connolly stephenson? think slight upgrades over unimportant players without breaking the bank could do wonders for their chances. ROR at 3c without giving up the farm would be ideal to me. I get the side that doesnt want to give up the impressiver future the caps have built

O’Reilly would be such a good add to solidify the top 9. And being under contract next season, he’s a really strong defensive presence that could “shelter” offensive minded younger forwards such as CMM, Leonard, or Cristall, while still being able to drive play offensively and not limit them like a strictly defensive minded center would.

To be clear, i am firmly in the Camp of add a top 6 impact player. But i am also in the camp of choosing to stand pat versus overpaying. Teams are chasing us, not the other way around. Everyone wants to find the same success as the Caps.

I’m willing to move a prospect or Lappy or picks for the right guy. But not for a middling bottom 6.

Dude come on….stop being insulting…we all know how the playoffs work. None of us wants to overpay, but pretending like we can’t improve is silly.

Discussing obvious upgradable roster spots on deadline day is not doom and glooming it. Jesus H…
There's several posts saying we are basically "doomed" if Eller is still our 3C after today.

I'm no Eller defender but if we don't make a move we're not doomed w/Eller, he's still in good shape, can skate hard and has Old Man Strength; we know he's not driving the O but he's also not an embarrassment needing sheltering

I'm fine w/making moves today, just hope they're smart

And if we don't... we're still the #1 f'ing team in the East; we ain't limping in barely getting WC2 on gm82; teams will struggle to match lines with us even w/our 3rd line issues; there's not 1 team in the League with 4 strong lines

This is my top choice. heard he wants to stay in Nashville versus being moved so I think that is what is in the way. Not the trade value. So we’d really have to give to get here.

Ok. Let me be clear. If we go into postseason with Eller as 3c, we are not doomed, but it would be a colossal mistake.

We should be stepping in the gas. Eller is riding the brake.

I like the Zucker extension a lot for Buffalo but that's another potential name off the board

Not opposed to it but I'd rather take back NAK for future considerations

I posted in a GDT about Eller which i will rephrase here.

I watched him closely on Wednesday night. When you watch him closely he is so def with his stick and positioning. he often ends up with the puck on his stick which is good. He doesn’t have breakaway speed so he always gets caught. he can’t finish consistently. But for a 3C he is exactly what you want and he knows this team and system.

If we were in the same position as last year as opportunistic sellers, he would likely fetch a first rounder. Everyone wants a guy like Eller, particularly this year with a thin C market.

What he is not is a 2nd line guy. If an injury, I’d rather bring up Lappy or move McMichael to Center (not Protas - those days are gone).

So yeah, i would like someone like ROR who can play wing or center on third line but can move up to top 6 if injury.

Have to think this is just a Vrana replacement, no? Just A Guy that they have marginally more trust in. Otherwise, even with a dwindling winger rental market, it doesn't make much sense.

Wasn’t that Milano?

A top 9 acquisition + Leonard kicks someone to the press box anyways.
