It's been talked about a few times here, they've removed the ability to do that and don't want teams doing conditional on re-signing.
You’re missing my point. Totally.

Like LTIR and the TDL. Always a way to make a deal if both party in agreement. “Condition” could be anything if both sides “agree”.

Rules bend like overcooked pasta. All the time.

No I understand your point. And it's wrong.

The league would reject the trade if they sensed you're going around it.

To me it feels like the day we traded Bourque or Randford and the boys to Washington or Thornton to the Sharks. Hopefully this works out better, which means a Cup awhile down the road.

The return for Marchand seems too low, unless he’s severely injured, I probably keep him for that price but if they weren’t gonna agree on a contract I guess it’s fine.

I don’t care about sending guys to rivals, just get the best return you can.

Fans probably don’t think so now but overall it was a good day for Sweeney IMO, he got some great value. Now let’s see what he does with it.

On to the next era!

If you were pounding the table for Marchand to be traded, I don't want to hear any complaints about the return. Remember there were folks that said "you can't let him walk away for free"
That was when rumors were of a legitimate return and hints of western conference.

Not a far future conditional late 1st/2nd and watching Marchand potentially sign an extension in Florida so he finishes his career as a despised pest.

Letting him walk for free is better than this.

This is scenario specific. I do not mind one bit that we traded Carlo to Toronto.

Actually the GM did great in every trade the last 48 hours but got little return for the only trade I'll care about.

Praying Alicat is right and the little return may imply he could be back?

That's the easy part.

Now watch him throw it all away on players the amount to nothing which is his specialty.

Overall satisfied with all the trades and gives me a reason to watch the playoffs.

I think Marchand will really thrive playing for Florida and hope he goes wild over there.

I don't think Carlo will help Toronto much.

Coyle if he plays to the best of his ability will be great for Colorado but that's a big if.

Going to guess they use the picks and whatever room they have to get some guys in the off season and hopefully new coaching staff. I'd prefer new coaches now so they can work with the team but it is what it is.

Yeah, I was all for dealing him. When you look at what Nelson got, that should be at least the baseline for what March would get.

The fact that he went for about what Anthony Beauvillier got is ridiculous.

Assuming there is nothing else.

That's why fans shouldn't be running the front office of an NHL club.
