Teoscar & a trade for Crochett seems to be their direction

Personally, I'd consider any offseason that involves signing Teoscar a fail. It would erode any faith I had in Breslow when you could have signed him last offseason for less money and without a QO. The outlook for him shouldn't have changed at all, which means the only thing that would have is their desperation and that's an awful sign for things to come.

I still think Teoscar goes back to LA.

That would leave the Sox, Yankees, and Jays to battle it out over Santander? Don't much care for that.

IDK….if he puts up 35/100 and the team is good, I can live with it.

I mean it seems like last season was the “come to Jesus” moment for FSG (at least I hope so).

I’m not going to spend too much energy lamenting what could have been, provided the have a quality off season.

Unless you trade for Seiya he’s the best option so I don’t get this take. He’s better than Oneill and the OF sucks rn until Anthony arrives and he could very well be a bust

Yeah I will hate it out of principle. It would make the lineup better but it’s a real bitter way to do it

Because, to me, more important than any individual move is trusting your leadership has a consistent, proactive plan. The reactive yo-yoing that's been the theme of this team since Theo left is an awful way to run any organization and I'd view a Teoscar signing as a signal that won't change under Breslow.

Bummed they didnt get Soto but I also love seeing him go to the mets over the yanks, which is hilarious

I need a pep talk from Peter Brand.

"I think it's a good thing you didn't give Juan Soto 3/4ths of a billion dollars. I think it opens up all kinds of interesting possibilities."

As much as i'd love to dunk on the Yankees, 16/760 is still an insane amount of money.

This just appears to be a case where Uncle Steve wasn't taking no for an answer. Potentially as much as 800 million on one player not named Shohei is kinda bonkers, especially when he can't play defense or run the bases well.

I do think there's an argument for both the Sox and Yankees that you're better off spreading out that 50 million a year to fill holes elsewhere.

Plan B is the Arenado + Fried outcome which is fine and will make us competitive. But a star UFA like Soto isn't going to come around again for a long time.

Now that Soto is not happening, neither is Crochet. Mayer would be a dramatic overpay. Cease returned less value than a top 20 prospect.

If the Red Sox pay with prospects instead of pure dollars, I am going to be annoyed.
Crochet and Cease aren’t comparable pitchers (other than that they both pitched for the White Sox). Crochet’s market value is much higher, so don’t compare apples to oranges.

I am fine with the offer the Sox made. At a certain point it becomes stupid and would hinder further team building. I am going to reserve judgement until I see what they do to improve the roster. The money is apparently there to do so....lets see what they spend it on now.

Nothing will change until this ownership group sells the team. They just aren't capable are keeping up with modern day big market teams

DALLAS — There are no prizes for finishing second — or third — in the bidding for a glamourous free agent. They do not award runner-up medals for free agent negotiations.

The Red Sox tried, but came up empty on outfielder Juan Soto, falling approximately $65 million short of the New York Mets’ winning bid of 15 years, $765 million. They were distinct long-shots going in and effectively also-rans in the end.

Teoscar adds a power righty bat who’s excelled in Fenway and is a charismatic leader who’d be what they need - I liked O’Neill, great sign by Brez but he’s injury prone and reason why he got Come back player of the year.

My OF: Duran, Rafaela, and Abreu

Refsnyder 4th & Anthony on way.

They don’t really have a desperate need for an OF

They need a stud starter

I’m good with Teoscar but gotta be 2 year deal

Duran is a beast, Rafaela was a rookie and is elite fielder, can play on grass and dirt should be better - he’s improved every year, Abreu won a GG and projects as 20+ homer doubles machine

Anthony best OF prospect in baseball

Campbell’s got OF tools - they just drafted Montgomery and have Bleis

OF should not be a priority

They need a SP
