I'm grateful. Everyone bitching about wheeler's contract now would be bitching about helle's in 4-6 years. Same with schief.

Helle is elite but he has TONNES of miles on him. 65 games a year, and many of them he's been very busy.

I think we dodged a bullet, and hopefully can get a decent return from a team whose cup window is wide open or closing
There are many cases like this, and they drag teams down. Another one I can think of is John Tavares with Toronto who makes around $ 10 mil per season. Still not a bad player, but not worth that kind of money anymore, and not even close. These legacy contracts hurt these teams.
All I can imagine is the multitude of ways that Chevy will justify his dithering and try to get another season out of Helle and then sell him off at the TDL for half of his current worth. Please don’t do it Chevy!
Yes, and the one thing I didn't like about Chevy, is he waits til the last minute before moving a guy that wants out. Good examples were Evander Kane and Trouba. If he would start looking around to facilitate their needs right away, he'd get a much better return, while there's still time left on their contracts. Also Chevy may be the reason why there's so many locker room issues, as Chevy just seems to ignore them, rather than getting rid of the trouble sources, as soon as possible.

Hey Larmex, I thought by now you'd be fishing in the great outdoors, on your annual Alaskan fishing trip ? Hope your doing well. :)

So the over under on how many days it takes for it to come out Scheifele is also not reupping with us?
I think when dreger came out last week saying all 3 were pretty much likely to be traded that none were going to re-up so the news about helle today really wasn't surprising

I think the writing was on the wall after 21-22 when he said he needed to talk to his family and his agent about his future. He was a lot more leveled in his responses to questions at locker cleanout this season though. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't hear about Scheifele at all. They might just frame the eventual trade as an opportunity that they couldn't refuse given the overall team outlook.

You thought right GNP. Up here now chasing monster halibut around the Gulf of Alaska. Catching a few too. Have a great summer my friend!

37 will hurt the most followed by 55 who Jets will pay 10 million to keep tho.

26 and 80 won't hurt. Dubois especially. The originals tho, but the time has come to move on. These guys had a great run, made the conference finals, pretty impressive for the smallest Market team in the league, also they all embraced and loved Winnipeg. Helle became a dad here, Wheeler did too, they did so much for the youngsters here, but it's time to move on. Prob should have started during the covid year in reality. I want to say I expected more from Dubois... 55 Dubois Lowry 1 2 3.... strong but just didn't work out. Jets with Dubois should have been better. I'll be cheering for you Connor, you were always friendly to me and especially my daughter and really all the kids. Thank you for embracing Winnipeg. We made you a huge lover of fishing and ice fishing. Go get yours bro. You deserve it.

scheifele's as good as gone, go back and listen to his end of season presser two years ago he pretty much said what everyone else said this year, he doesn't want to stay for a rebuild

I haven't heard anything about the Jets rebuilding tho. Just from fans on here who want them to but all the ppl in the know say that isn't a thing and they aren't rebuilding as much as some ppl on here want them to. They don't listen to the vocal minority. I've heard retool. They can do that If they do this right.

they don't want to rebuild but they also don't want to lose someone like scheifele for nothing and from the sounds of it he won't be signing here so they will be looking to move him

Who has said that and why do you think they would have a hot clue as to what 55's intentions are?

But Chevy explained that was just normal dejection over missing the playoffs. Nothing to see here, move along. Right?

dreger said he is most likely getting traded
Dreger doesn't know shit. Just click bait.

dreger gets more right about the jets then anybody, I think it's pretty well known around here that he is chevy's guy. when all our beat writers were saying schmidt wouldn't waive he was the one saying the jets are looking into schmidt

Examples? What has he predicted would happen that actually did?

Edit: Just saw your add on. You think Chevy leaks to this guy? I thought the Jets were a tight ship that didn't leak.

murat has even gone as far to say that he and chevy are friends, I don't think they leak often but he seems to get it when we do
Fine. We'll leave it at that. I hope you're right. Nobody wants 55 gone as much as I do. I just don't want people getting my hopes up only to have them crushed.

Dreger used to do play-by-play for the Wheat Kings. Not at same time as when Chevy played for them or when Heisinger was the equipment manager there… but there could be a connection. Chevy and Dreger also both grew up in Saskatchewan.

Dreger did play-by-play for the Moose. Heisinger was the Moose equipment manager at the time. And obviously Chipman the owner.

So - Dreger could have a connection to all 3 of them.

I think we’re all ( except a few nameless posters) going to miss his play here.
As he alluded to in his exit interview the players are there but the chemistry is not.
He’s a refreshing personality as he tells it like it is.
I admire his honesty and his ability.
Not sure where he is going but I’ll always be a huge fan and supporter of his.

Hellebuyck was very pleasant to us when we accidentally met him at Bagelsmith on Taylor St, earlier this spring. He loved my kid's car and spent a few moments chatting. He and his partner (also a very sweet person) were grabbing breakfast. Nice dude - very gracious and courteous, and personally will miss his brand of hockey - if this rumour is correct.

I agree and like both of these posts but if and when Helle is traded he is dead to me
