There are many cases like this, and they drag teams down. Another one I can think of is John Tavares with Toronto who makes around $ 10 mil per season. Still not a bad player, but not worth that kind of money anymore, and not even close. These legacy contracts hurt these teams.I'm grateful. Everyone bitching about wheeler's contract now would be bitching about helle's in 4-6 years. Same with schief.
Helle is elite but he has TONNES of miles on him. 65 games a year, and many of them he's been very busy.
I think we dodged a bullet, and hopefully can get a decent return from a team whose cup window is wide open or closing
Yes, and the one thing I didn't like about Chevy, is he waits til the last minute before moving a guy that wants out. Good examples were Evander Kane and Trouba. If he would start looking around to facilitate their needs right away, he'd get a much better return, while there's still time left on their contracts. Also Chevy may be the reason why there's so many locker room issues, as Chevy just seems to ignore them, rather than getting rid of the trouble sources, as soon as possible. All I can imagine is the multitude of ways that Chevy will justify his dithering and try to get another season out of Helle and then sell him off at the TDL for half of his current worth. Please don’t do it Chevy!
Hey Larmex, I thought by now you'd be fishing in the great outdoors, on your annual Alaskan fishing trip ? Hope your doing well.
