Exactly why we can’t be adding pieces to this team. It’s time to tear it down and start over.We aren’t even close to these guys.
The O’s are legit what we thought the jays were gonna be. They also did it while not being players in the international market which is crazyMan, this team is so unlikeable ... I give them a chance every couple days and tune in and plan to watch a game. I can't remember more than 2 or 3 specific exciting moments or games really all year (that I've tuned in to) .
We may have really skipped our entire contention window. Huge payroll and not a single "star" player. Orioles are doing the exact thing we all thought the Jays were going to do. And without ugly advertisements all over a classic jersey.
The entire approach to hitting is obviously night and day.
The orioles look like their pre game meetings are actually effective, know what pitchers are throwing, don't swing at wild balls every at bat, wait for pitch they like/ are looking for, and connect frequently.
They look like professionals, like big league baseball players.
We have zero viable prospects. Tiedemann is injured all the time, Orelvis Martinez is brutal defensively, Barger is who knows what.... Horwitz is not really a prospect he's 26.
Anyone else? They were really riding the Bo & Vladdy train for all these years. The team as a whole was great offensively in 2021, Then it went downhill from there.
The Mariners series broke them. I know I don't have the exact correct rankings but in 2021 they ranked 3rd in exit velocity. Excellent batting team, likely the best in the league when healthy. In 2022 they were 6th in exit velocity. Still a very good team but their outfield defense sucked and they didn't fix it with a decent piece. In 2023 their exit velocity dropped to around 19th and I believe this year it dropped to 27th or so. The Jays obviously lost guys who were good exit velocity guys but at some point, they went from trying to hit the ball hard, to a more contact team. A change in approach and personnel did the bats in and they have done shit all to correct it. I don't get how they didn't change hitting coaches in the offseason. We have zero viable prospects. I wish I had a dollar for every time this year a Jays hitter watched a strike right down the middle for 0-1 and then swung at a breaking pitch a mile out of the zone for 0-2.
Part of it is bad/old hitters but they just don’t have a quality approach at all.
He has 14 errors this season already. How do you know Orelvis is brutal defensively? From what I can tell he’s fine, if not slightly below average at 3B. And when you predicate that you don’t know what/who someone is… how can you definitively say he’s not a viable prospect?
Plus saying someone is 26 is hardly a disservice in today’s baseball. How did the O’s turn 29 year old Ryan O’Hearn into a solid hitter?
Why not, idk, see how the kids fare at the MLB first before deciding their fate? All they do is score in AAA and I’m supposed to question their viability? They could probably outhit the current MLB team in games.
Seeing how this team has been the last couple seasons, I'd take a bit more adventure in the outfield over this level of batting performance.
This prioritizing defense has not worked. Last year they snuck in because the pitching was elite. This year the pitching took a step backward as it was going to, and they are even worse offensively, result being last in the division for pretty much most of the year.

Whatever they are doing they truly believe they are doing the correct thing and seemed puzzled by the lack of results.
