I wonder how much of a leash Atkins has this season.

Like if they start the first month more than 5 games under .500, does he get fired?

Unless we're in position to be a seller by the deadline, I can't see him getting fired in-season.

But if we are in that position, hopefully he's not the GM making those moves. The last time he was in that position we ended up getting a pittance for our vets.

I dunno, if they completely crap the bed to start the season there will be lots of fan unrest. Shapiro probably won’t have a choice at that point.
 
Everyone should have an extremely short leash. This team is hot garbage. When we’re 12-18 after 30 games I’d fire everyone.

They needed two good bats and they only added a decent one who could already be washed.

Just an absolute failure of an offseason. The IKF contract is just mind boggling.

Honestly reminds me of when Ricciardi signed an old Frank Thomas to be the stopgap, except this Jays team is supposed to be an actual contender.

I'd be a lot more comfortable with our roster had we signed JD Martinez and Belt instead of Turner and Voglebach; would have saved money too. And I'd take Urshella for $1.5m over IKF's ridiculous deal any day.

As long as gausman brings it today this will be a huge blowout win.
 
I will never be convinced otherwise that the opener isn't a stupid concept. What a waste of a pitcher at the beginning of the game.
 
Turner has been absolutely incredible for us so far. I am very impressed.

I hope so but I doubt it. He's Shapiro's boy.
