The best eligible American player (and the only guy they’re missing due to being in the NHL) is Cooley, who is -11 with 16 points (and only 6 even strength points) in 30 games with premier usage on the Coyotes.
Yes. I noticed that, too.

Have to admit didn't see Poitras coming.. I guess hockey Canada did know what they were doing.
Yes. When HC left a slot open, I assumed someone was coming. When Benson was eliminated, you had to figure it was MP.

I mean... the slovak coach said yesterday that Poitras.... and Fantilli will join team Canada
How would he know?

I hope it's true but...

FWIW, after a bit of a slow start to the first USPORTS game, his skating wasn't too big of an issue. Seemed to figure it out on the bigger ice.
Really appreciate the input!

Wood is one of the guys I’m most excited to watch. How he goes could really determine how the whole team goes. Instantly rekindling scoring chemistry with Celebrini would be an ideal scenario, as the lines would really write themselves IMO - Poitras between Geekie and Savoie, Dumais filling the same style of play as Firkus beside Yager, Celebrini centring Wood, Beck pairing up with Danielson as the dedicated shutdown line, and Cowan/Minten/Rehkopf plugging in however.

I'm really surprised Boston loaned Poitras to the team.
He was good against Rangers - set up the goal with great heads up back hand pass on entry where he held on to puck long enough to get Rangers defenseman to take a step towards him

Didn’t see this coming

Congrats on Poitras. Great for you guys and great for the tournament.
I was at an event with OReilly & Middleton Friday night and Middleton was with Zanussi when he got traded to Bruins in famous Esposito/Vadnais for Park/Ratelle

I was in HS and it happened during school a public school and basically shut the place down people were so stunned

Times have changed lol

Not a big deal but I'm disappointed TC ends the round robin against an easy opponent (Germany).
I know the game is in the morning but usually the New Years Eve game is their toughest test.

Not sure why I would care either way.
You usually have a funny comment. I was setting you up... :)

Yes. I always look forward to the NYE game. Germany is disappointing.

I’m with Dominance on this one. On paper, I don’t think this team outscores the American’s, or maybe even the Swedes, but having elite defensive forwards and penalty killers at this age could make the difference. Poitras, Celebrini, Minten, Beck, Cowan, Danielson and Allard are all very sound defensively. The forward group reminds me of the 05/06 and 06/07 teams that won gold.

That trade is the reason I use his name. At the time of the trade I was upset that we were giving up Espo. But my father thought it was a great deal. He was adamant that Zanussi was the variable that made it a good trade for the B’s. I’ve always thought it was great that he was so committed to a guy I’d never heard of at the time.

That's how I got my girlfriend. Old-fashioned romantic wearing down.
There's the sense of humour we know and love. :)

:thumbu:

So many things can happen, it's hard to predict a winner.

I've always wondered about your screen name being such a random reference. LOL
