So I saw on instagram that mark masters on twitter said that the first powerplay in practice was mateychuk, Bonk, Minten,Geekie, Celebrini. I just don't know how you don't use Dumais and Savoie. You would think if there's one thing Dumais could do at this level it would be run a power play.
Also don't all the advanced stats support utilizing one defenceman not two on the powerplay. I'm sure Bonk is good but is he that good?

Feels like the 2nd unit is more like the 1st unit lol

Apparently Minten doesnt even play first PP in the WHL this season. Theres been some odd players on the roster and looks like some odd special teams choices. Hopefully this coaching staff isnt trying too hard to be the smartest in the room

Masters has posted some lines and things labeled like that, but I think its just the order of who practiced first. I dont think it necessarily means that the team is looking to use those guys as PP1 or PP2. Same with the lines in the Usports games

These kids are going to go out and try their best. All you can ask from them in a tournament that's massively hyped up thanks to the TSN marketing machine. Other companies should be taking notes. Roster is essentially set and all we can hope is that the coaches get the team ready for success. Focus should be on the coaches now as they've been given a roster talented enough to win, they just need to get the team to that point.
Marketing machine or not, it's my favourite sporting event of the year. The World Juniors at Christmas. Like peanut butter & jam. If it's ever not at this time of year or not on TSN, my interest would plummet immensely. The 2022 summer edition was hard to get excited for, and I think the heroics of the last game kind of overshadowed how "off" the tournament felt.

Compared to what the U.S. can put out on the power play you have the stark realization as to the comparative strength’s of these two teams.

The day has arrived where Canada needs to send its best to have a chance of competing for gold.

you could also say the other teams usually need Canadas best players not playing in order for them to win, depends on how you are looking at it.

Our best players are not here and if they were we would walk in as favourites as per usual, nothings changed there, it's a good thing our players are in the pro game.....they should be.

We have what we have here and if fans and teams take us lightly that would be an error and all the better for us. We are not under any illusion about the all the stars and how great the U.S is and how they are going to smoke everyone and blah blah blah. But a single game hasnt even been played yet, we can sing the Hosannas for team U.S.A when they have finished destroying everyone.

The U.S. has a lot of firepower, but that hasn't always served us well internationally. We'll see how things come together for this particular team this year. Canada has a very good roster and if they can get adequate goaltending should be in the mix for gold.

U.S. are nominated as the favorites every year lately.........until the puck drops.

I'm putting my money on Canada despite losing the Bedard's and Korchinski's and the others to the NHL.

I like your moxie but in this case they are the favourite and justifiably so, an awful lot of ammunition on that U.S team this year, they will thrash a lot of teams here, hopefully we are not one of them, we will see.

These days the US absolutely SHOULD be considered among the favourites every year… just like Canada is. They have a development program that churns out great players every year and more and more players are starting to come from non traditional hockey states. Get used to this.

With that all said, things don’t always work out for them (as you alluded to) and they’ll have to actually play up to their potential to bring home the gold. Hopefully, Canada makes it tough for them.

Huge addition

Good for Canada but bad for the competition as meanwhile the European teams top dogs like Kemell and Bichel are too busy to contribute for some f*in AHL/ SHL teams..
