I'd happily let you take the "L" as well.I'll happily take the L.

Right on, brother.Yeah, you are right OF, we will need to start getting behind these kids starting right now and being more positive, they deserve our support, they are going to do their best win or lose representing us and we need to respect that.
Your post here was a good reminder of that.
Especially when guys watching the camp really only had okay things to say about his offense.Quite the assumption.
Yes all the hockey cliches for a guy that can't make plays with the puck. Almost made the NHL at 18, but he's not even an impact player in the Q as a 4th year player! Please list off the effective defensemen at this tournament that scored at a... 0.25 PPG rate in the CHL. I'll wait on that one.
People say the same things about these low scoring defensemen, every year and it hardly ever plays out how they envision. And we have never seen a case this extreme. Yes he may be good defensively, but this is an overseas IIHF tournament. You have to be able to make plays with the puck - under pressure and at a pace they've never played at before.
For reference, a guy like Oliver Bonk who probably doesn't make this roster in a normal cycle, has about the minimum puck skills Canada should be looking for. And he's a PPG player in the OHL.
Well, everyone has one for when they dont win but its always because someone else was better, if even only by a hair.No excuses, time for the Threepeat.
Better goaltending, better défense, forwards about the same if not slightly worseI know its early
But what do you think canada looks like next year in Ottawa?
The 2023 Draft class (that this year's team borrowed from) will be 19.Better goaltending, better défense, forwards about the same if not slightly worse
Because the ones that would feature prominently (2005s) will already be in the NHL, we’re already seeing that this year with Bédard and Benson, and top forwards from this year’s team Celebrini (in the NHL), Savoie (aged out), and Danielson (aged out) will not be back. And I think the 2024 draft group for Canada has stronger and deeper defenseman than forwards especially with Celebrini not coming back and Catton possibly in the NHL if he goes top 3The 2023 Draft class (that this year's team borrowed from) will be 19.
Why do you think the forwards will be worse?
That's fair. NHL roster freeze on the 19th is probably the most important cut off. If Canada doesn't get a player by then they will probably add the 13th forward.when are the final rosters officially due? sorry if someone already answered this. curious how long canada has to decide on that last spot.

HC knows they are getting one player - that's my guess. As far as I know there’s not cutoff. As long as there’s an open roster spot, you can add players anytime.
Let’s see if we can convince Bedard to hop on a plane for jan 4th/5th haha
Parayko and Nurse are nothing alike defensively. Just a baffling comp.I was referring to the fact they didn’t play together on Gatineau. Excuse my English if I didn’t express it clearly but I mean to say that the perception of having Warren on the team for me feels like he is being brought as a compliment to Luneau, not because they had a great deal of history together on hull.
I have no issues with bringing defensive defenseman. I thought hinds was great last year. But I don’t think Warren plays near that level as hinds did last year.
And different topics but
1.Seabrook was separated from Keith and ended up the 7th defenseman in 2010, I don’t think it was a great pick
2.Parayko and Nurse are both atrocious in their own end, I don’t mind bringing more defensive profile guys like Toews or Pelech but if you have Parayko and Nurse playing 15 minutes a night in a best on best than Canada will lose
I think there’s close to 0%.Can't see the Bruins letting Poitras go. He's an NHLer now.
Easton CowanI know its early

Having our talent poached is a compliment. We should keep striving for it. We may lose some talent for this team, but it means we create too much talent, I’m okay with that. That's fair. Hopefully the NHL won't poach Team Canada's offense next year.
Poitras coming or not isnt going to make or break this team either way. This team just doesnt have the usual talent available this year and it will have to be a dog on the bone unit with all 4 lines putting pressure on all over the ice and get some great goaltending to have any chance of winning, as long as they give all they have they can at least be competitive and that is about all you can ask from this group as there is a couple of teams at least that simply have more talent this year, its just the way it is at the WJC.I closed it by accident and cant find it now but I think it was Dreger saying Benson isnt coming, but the Bruins are still legit considering letting Poitas go. Hes got some junior habits still and they think he might not be ready for "playoff hockey".
I bet the decision on him comes down to the wire
As was just mentioned a few posts ago by nbwingsfan, if they've stated that they are trying to get rid of his junior hockey habits, the WJC is definitely not the place you would expect him to be sent.I closed it by accident and cant find it now but I think it was Dreger saying Benson isnt coming, but the Bruins are still legit considering letting Poitas go. You don’t have to sell ME on the idea. I’m a believer in the WJC as a development tool. It just doesn’t sound like the Bruins are in agreement with us. LolSend to the world juniors for a big stage experience, post WJC go back to junior working on exactly what the Bruins front office wants you to work on.
Playing 14 mins a game with the timelikely going down when the games get meaningful also isnt the greatest way to learn new habits. Hes had his time with the big club to know exactly what to work on, going to junior for a bit working on what they want you to work on while also focusing on gaining weight isnt the worst idea. Others have done it and had it work out.
Working on breaking habits while trying to just keep your head above water isnt the easiest thing to do either. I'm not saying what Boston should specifically do but theres lots of arguments in favour of sending a guy backwith habits to develop
