What’s the deal with the ice surface this year? I assume international ice. What size sheets do US colleges us? How much is that going to put us behind compared to other teams.

Ludwinski has played well this year to his credit, finally healthy and playing well. Regardless I don't think he makes this team, but he wasn't even on the radar two months ago so that is a positive.
Ludwinski has a decent enough chance to make Team Canada in a bottom six role, his speed and compete level sure helps him.
He might not have been on HF board members radar but he's certainly stayed on Team Canada radar since being identified by the POE. There was no U17 Championships for the 2004 born kids but the selection committee did their due diligence regardless. He also played for Canada at the 2020 Youth Olympic Games.
There wasn't a 2024 WJC summer camp but he was one of the invites to the summer meetings.

I think Vidicek is one of the guys likely to be cut, as I stated.

I was just pointing out that there is no experience to be gained for Vidicek or Team Canada with the invite.

I’d be very, very surprised if Yager was the first line C for this team. I think Vidicek may have just as good a shot at that role as Yager this year, knowing full well which one is the better prospect.
Everyone is writing off Vidicek but he is riding a hot hand with three goals tonight.

If Wright is NOT even in the NHL, why is he not going to Sweden? Ridiculous.
He is definitely not a “Nothing left to prove” guy in my books. I’m happy he showed up at the end of the tourney last year, but he was underwhelming the rest of the event. I’d like to see him here trying to be the main man on this team one year older.

I agree but why isn't Seattle pushing him to go?

If he was in the NHL, playing sizable minutes, okay, but he's in the AHL. Give him a chance, as you said, to be the "man" for Team Canada.

His problem has been staying healthy the last couple of years. Now that he is seemingly healthy you gotta think he wants to stay that way. He was on the last 2 teams and captained last years with above a ppg. I would be shocked if he comes

I'd be shocked, too, especially since Seattle said they weren't going to send him, however, I'd love to have him, and his experience, on the team.

No need in Seattle sending Wright to the WJ’s, he’s having a great stretch in the AHL at 19, that’s much more conducive to his game than heading to the WJ’s for 3 weeks.

If that is the case, then any 19 year old playing in any pro league anywhere should just stay with their club teams instead of a 3 week Christmas tourney.

Well, no. 19 year olds, for the most part, aren’t playing in the AHL. Especially Canadian kids. The AHL is the direct development league for the NHL teams. Not a league in Europe where they have no say in a players development during the season. Wright is playing, learning and developing in Seattles organization, with Seattles on ice system.

He’s playing PPG in the AHL, which is a huge step up from the WJ’s, and the Kraken want to keep him going at the AHL level, as well as likely being a first call up.

Nothing strange whatsoever about them wanting to keep him in the AHL where he’s developing exactly as they want him too.

Imagine Team Canada with...

* Bedard on the first line.
* Fantilli centering line 2 with Benson on his wing.
* Wright centering line 3.
* Poitras centering line 4.
* KK on D.

Then add the talent that's available. It would be absolutely sick and so much fun to watch.

Such a shame.

Think about Bedard’s performance last year and then consider that he had not one, but two more chances to play in this tourney. :laugh:

Are we accepting basically no NHL loans for the team this year or are there some reinforcements coming down from the big show potentially?
