Signing another 30 year old to a long term deal is pretty cringe
It totally is.

Considering the ages of the core of this team, I wouldnt be surprised if Drury/Dolan said f*** it and went all in to land him and then extend him. The window is going to close in a year or two anyway, if not earlier.

Not that I want this to happen, but its a risk i could see happening and extremely Ranger-esque

We can make a good run this year but that’s because the east is wide open.
And thats whats scaring me

I think it means that the Rangers have inquired and that talks have been ongoing. I dont' think it tell us a lot about how far the Rangers are willing to go (anyone saying they have an idea of what the Rangers would trade is making shit up)

Fair. Drury keeps a lid on things. PIT could be pushing Ranger interest to drive the price up on VAN (stupidly let it slip that they are unsatisfied with Lindholm) or EDM.

Agreed. I'm fine with shipping off Kakko in a hockey trade, but I don't want to see him in the division. And certainly not for someone who's going to walk in 4 months.
And if he becomes a star I will chirp on this board for the next 5 years with a told you so!

Given the returns for Mantha and Tarasenko(I understand the NMC was in play on Vlad), Drury shouldnt have to move a 2nd for Wennberg if he is including a prospect like Robertson or BMB. Just my two cents. Maybe that's why the trade hasnt gone through yet?

And Barry Trotz said that the trade market is way overpriced. Basically a 25-30 goal winger got traded for a 3rd.

No, because they are going to f***ing empty out their valuable long term assets for aging players again on the delusion that they are going to be able to fix their problems and win a Cup.

They'll have the same punchers chance they had yesterday.
I think Drury has shown that he's not going to be like GMs in the past.....most of his moves have been savvy and addressed our needs at the time -- except, of course, for the Kane fiasco (which I put squarely on Dolan's shoulders). I get the impression that Drury (like many of us) does not believe that we can win a cup with this group and I do not see him making any "all or nothing" moves. Wasting valuable assets for (and signing) aging players was pure Sather.

please dont trade BMB and dont be fulled by the power of full NMC and people picking their new home.

Robertson I dont care about right now

I know no one wants to empty the prospect pool, but the fact is this team is a top team in the eyes of the front office, if you can add a guy like Guentzel as a put them over the top move i would not be surprised if they pull the trigger. Just keep Perreault out of any deal.

The downplaying of Guentzel here is weird. Id be thrilled to have a guy who can produce at a star level and learned what it takes to win from Sidney Crosby.

Trade for Guentzel and extend him, trade Zibanejad, run Guentzel as the new 1C

surely that would work
