They should've signed one of him or Kane and gotten rid of Goodrow in the offseason.

The opportunity cost in keeping Goodrow so long is the problem area.

And for those who say we would've gotten fleeced in a Goodrow cap dump trade, we'll likely give up more now to try to acquire a 1RW at the deadline.
very good point when you look at the big picture

Completely agree on BMB. Trading a rising prospect would be the most dark age rangers move possible.
BMB will not stop Drury from landing a piece that he feels they need to compete against other teams, that are obviously starting to stack up.

Guentzal is the ultimate high risk high reward move. Is this the year to toss in all the chips on this core? If not now, when? One or two years from now, all current relevant players aging further?

Maybe it’s the year to really go for it. It’s scary to mortgage the future, but I think it’s just as important to take risks when the timing is right. Probably nothing sadder than leaving moves on the table and ultimately coming up short.

the issue is what does another high priced player that we have to slot out of position do for this team? trade bmb for the right player if you must, but guentzel is sqaure peg round hole.

people need to get over the buch trade and then the whole blais mess. if that history wasnt there then people would look at buch and say he is the guy that fills the needs here, and they would be right. people need to get over the bad trade (it was the best deal at the time, repeatedly stated) but the guy fits here now and has had chemistry with the twins, oh and he is a better player today then he was when he left. (oh and get hayes added to the deal, two birds one stone)

If Debrusk is truly available then he should be our number one target. A 1st, Sykora and Jones for Debrusk.
His numbers seem way off from last year, is there a reason other than he just had a career type year last year?

If you believe in this core, yes it’s probably the year. Unfortunately, I don’t believe in this core enough - mostly Mika and Trouba related.

Drury is in a bit of a pickle here to be completely honest. Because moving those guys isn’t easy so what do you do with a core you’re only somewhat confident in?

2024 1st, 2026 conditional 2nd that can become a 1st and Othmann

For

Chychrun w some retention
Pinto

That’d be my big splurge. Recoup some draft capital by moving Trouba and maybe Lindgren in the offseason

If Pacioretty really wants to be here, he’s at $2M and has a NMC. He can control his destiny, and hopefully can help faciltate a cheap deal here.

Stop wasting time and go rescue Tomasino from Nashville too.

Given the returns for Mantha and Tarasenko(I understand the NMC was in play on Vlad), Drury shouldnt have to move a 2nd for Wennberg if he is including a prospect like Robertson or BMB. Just my two cents. Maybe that's why the trade hasnt gone through yet?
Maybe. Reading the room a little.

OR, something else piqued their interest that wasnt on their radar and they are putting that deal on hold to work out if they can fit both

Truly a brutal unforced error by Drury. No idea why it got such a pass in the media.

This is truly crazy. Does anyone remember a time when a pretty good player was traded twice like this in such a short amount of time? I can't imagine the Canucks are gonna get what they paid for him.
Maybe 75 cents on the dollar if they are lucky.
Vanek?

Isles paid a first and then flipped him for Collberg and a 2nd.

If we're trading any 1st rounders, it better damn well be for a player signed beyond this year. No rentals for 1sts.
Yeah, its getting a little silly.

This Guentzal stuff is madness. I really like him as a player, but they flipped and burned the apple cart trying to bring Kane in last year and it upsetted everything.

Its impossible for this club to just make some low key moves that upgrade the depth of the team. Seems desperate. And likely is considering how much they want to wake up Mika from the black sleep

Trading a 1st, Othmann and another pick or prospect really isnt mortgaging the future. Having them or not having them isnt changing the fact that a retool is coming when Panarin's contract is up. And Drury and Laviolette's jobs depend on winning. So its easy to say the team is stupid for going for it, but scared teams dont usually win anything.

Tarasenko for a 3rd anf 4th. No way I give more than just a 4th for Wennberg. Mantha and Tarasenko went for so cheap with 50% retained. Wennberg isn't worth half of that. Soft, non scoring forward. If we give up more for him than Mantha and Tarasenko its a complete fail for Drury.
