I agree but it’s a major risk. What if he’s called up and doesn’t look ready, like Othmann? Then what?

I think we have a very deep bottom 6 and would be able to create effective combos with the guys we have. I also dont think its unheard to add a 3rd/4th line guy on the cheap before 5 oclock tomorrow

Wennberg playing with Kakko will be two analytics darlings whose metrics don't translate to production, but maybe they'll create something that can't be measured.
Kakko has produced with Cuylle and Brodzinski. I see no reason why he can't produce with Cuylle and Wennberg. It's only when we put Kakko with Kreider and Mika that he struggles to produce. Those players play a rush game. That isn't Kakko's game.

Most of the analytics GMs here loved that signing
when the fans of the actual team who watched him actually play warned us about giving him such term and money. That signing and losing those two 2nd's hurt us. One of those picks and maybe a little something more could have maybe got us Eberle by tomorrow 3pm.

And this, similarly, is why they should try to find a rush RWer. Duclair would fit but his effort level is up and down. I like Barabanov and Zucker there in general. A guy like Guentzel who does a lot of work down low and cycling would NOT fit well there I would think.

i thought about it and i decided that id ruin the farm system to bring Buch back for the rest of this season and next season at 50% retained. this is our window, even with our problematic defense corps. only untouchable is Perrault.

For real though, getting Buch back would be awesome. Ideally we keep Kakko as our 3RW and don't trade any roster players. Unless we can get STL to take Goodrow.

Im all about adding Buch back if both sides are open to a reunion. The "asset management" stuff is wind at this point. They dont give out awards for managing your assets well. Teams like Tampa and Vegas and Colorado trade future assets on a regular basis. If there is a deal to be made there, make it.

I will say this, Armstrong seems real eager to move Pavel when he doesnt have to. Opportunistic in the market for sure but Buch now going to get traded from his second team because they dont want to pay him. Maybe its true he is a dick. Idk if thats necessarily a bad thing but its worth mentioning.

He almost single-handedly lost the series for the Avs vs. Vegas.

Zibanejad getting dealt isn't impossible within the next two years. Scott Gomez was dealt after year two of a 7 year contract. IIRC he had a full NMC too. It can happen.

I am more than willing to write him off. He hasn't been even 1st line level at 5 on 5 since 2020. He's a major reason we're so mediocre at ES. He might "look" worse this year but besides his actual scoring, basically everything is the same as last year.

We're bad 5 on 5 because Lindgren and Trouba suck eggs and play more than half the game, and Zibanejad hasn't been above average at ES in 4 years. Goodrow is horrific but a tertiary reason for that, he doesn't play enough to be that bad. My problem is that this is probably going to continue because the org probably thinks Lindgren and Trouba are playing fine. They have no ability to evaluate defense.

I guess that's where a lot of my issues come from. It doesn't seem like Drury thinks they're an issue. He certainly didn't think that about Goodrow which is why against all logic we kept him instead of having him f*** off to wherever. Should've never been signed in the first place, and again, we're dearly paying for it.

Drury doesn't f*** up a lot necessarily but when he makes mistakes, they're huge mistakes and they ripple through multiple seasons. The major example being the Buch trade.
I don’t think so… zibby is here to stay with 6 years left and a NMC…
He’s always been hot and cold/streaky, but when he’s hot he gets red hot. We’ve Not seen that guy all year….
He’s playing a bit uninspired/lethargic. Similar to panarin last season yet still getting his points….
They really need a verheagie/zetterlund type to be on his wing. Someone that is 100% go on every shift.

Trouba I think is right on schedule to where most thought he’d be… the big question is this offseason do they move him while is cap hit is higher then his actual salary and his nmc turns to a MNTC… that decision was always on the horizon… can Schneider take his role yet ?? Do they think so???
Schneider is going to be a damn good D when he’s 25-26 years old imo. He’s made significant strides in his consistency this season.
