I don't think anyone was upset that Buchnevich was traded. The problem was, and always will be, the return. He's one of the few impact forwards we have drafted and developed, and we gave him away for nothing. Now people want to spend significant assets to get him back.
Sucks Blais shredded his knee so early in the season. Drury was looking to balance the roster out, it was the right move. It didn’t work out, that’s sport. So let’s keep crying about it. Very productive.

This needs to be a top priority in the offseason IMO. It will suck if Hanifin is signed but Forsling is another option. And they need to prioritize another 3rd pairing guy, hopefully by the removal of Trouba and Lindgren

The Rangers aren't playing Florida in rounds 1 or 2. You need to get there and see what happens. It's all about improving your chances
Improving your chances to the point of it still being an incredible outside chance is only wasting assets.

For all we make ourselves believe the Copp/Vatrano deadline was a "success" because we went further than we expected, in the grand scheme of things it wasn't. We lost and wasted assets. Going to the ECF that year did nothing for our organization, especially considering it didn't help develop the kids much. Wennberg + Okposo + Zucker is going to net the same result.

D market is absolutely stacked this summer as long as you're not looking for a #1 guy. Myers, Skjei, Martinez, Brodie, Hanifin(for now), Tanev, Pesce, Montour, Forsling, Grzclyk, Walker, DeMelo. Trading Lindgren for a couple picks and adding a vet to stabilize the D would be my move if they dont trade for Chychrun. Im personally a fan of Pesce. Tarrytown native tight with a couple Rangers (Kreider) and it would be nice to steal a useful player from the thrifty canes like we did with Vinny.

Blais has a career high 25 points lmfao

Buch had more goals in his two seasons as a Blue than Blais had shots as a Ranger.

Blais was never good and the gaslighting about him being some kind of sparkplug in the Blues cup run really rotted some of your brains. He sucks. He just hits a lot.

The trade was indefensible the second it was made.

I like Pesce the player, but I am concerned because his next deal will start when he is 30. I'm guessing he gets something long term.

I'd hope that Drury would see what we are seeing and do exactly this. Move Trouba and Lindgren, sign Forsling/Hanifin and someone like Demelo/Schultz for the 3rd pairing

how the f*** does Kakko have that much value? wow.
I know it's cool to hate on Kakko now but I can see him being a good player for us for a long time. He needs a puck carrying/playmaking Center.

He's had Zibs, Bonino and Brodz. He finally started playing well with Brodz, even though he's not a great stylistic fit, and Lavi puts him back with Vegan Fabio.

He needs extended time with a playmaking/puck carrying Center and imo we will see a major improvement

Yup. Im not worried about draft picks because there are always opportunities to add more. And with the cap going up, spending only cap space on upgrades is probably the right move, especially if you can keep the contract for a top 4 guy in the 4-5mil range. I would be very surprised to see the Rangers make major additions at forward this summer. There are going to be a lot of bodies in camp if they keep all their prospects through Friday.

Wennberg is a pretty spot on fit for that Cuylle/Kakko line. He doesnt need to be the physical presence with the 2 bulls on his wings. Just facilitate play, which seems to be a strength of his. You know Cuylle has no issues crashing the net. Maybe Kakko will start to drive the middle more with an actual NHL center (and im not talking about Jonny B Good)

now it's up to Lavi to make it a thing and realize Zibs is a lost cause

Trading Kakko for an upgrade doesn't fill a hole. We need to acquire a RW without moving one. The goal should be to get a RW for 93/20, get KK to line 3 with Wennberg and Jimmy back to the 4th where he's most valuable. Obviously, these aren't original thoughts but it is the bottom line. My money is on Buch coming back with 1 of our higher rated guys that are currently in Hartford being part of the package.
