surely people can’t be surprised by this

It’s always been stated he wants to be commissioner, this just gets him closer to that goal

He gonna be a sounding board for Breslow and hopefully can get in Henry’s ear about spending. That’s about it though. He’s not making specific roster decisions. He’s as much an employee of the red Sox as he is the Pittsburgh penguins

Here's an idea, Sam. Maybe try not saying anything at all. Because every time you do say something you make it worse.

He was already working with MLB. How does being an adviser for FSG get him closer to being commissioner? The getting into Henry's ear about spending is a pipe dream. It's just not reality.

80 wins is very generous with this roster

Honestly, comparing the east with the other divisions, not even a Montgomery/Soler signing would put them above any other team in the east. We'd still finish last it seems. Long slog ahead.

I'll be shocked if they even sniff .500 ball
This seems overly pessimistic.

They were eight games over .500 and 1.5 games out of a Wild Card slot in the last week of August before the wheels fell off.

The wheels didnt fall off because of some random/unforseen reason that wont repeat itself. It's not that the wheels fell off, its more like water found its level.

Not to mention the roster has only gotten worse.

Slam the under because when they're not in it at the deadline they will finally sell after having that non-action blow up in their face two straight years. They'll be much worse the last two months of the year.

This is an even worse roster than the ordinary at best ones of the past 2 years. How that is expected to get to 80 wins (in a brutal division) is beyond me.

I wouldn't be shocked if they started cleaning house way before the deadline this year. Seems like Breslow has already started doing that. It's been rumored that he tried to ship out Yoshida and Jansen.
Going into the upcoming season with that roster is even more of a waste than last season or the year before. It won't be enough to get a top draft pick, but bad enough to be entirely irrelevant in the AL (east).

This is hilarious. How about pitching a new stadium idea to the city of Boston and come on in as our NL team! At least we don't have John Fisher as an owner.
