I don't think they're good enough to afford trading top prospects for win-now players. Obviously there's no guarantee with those prospects, but to me, big trades are something you make when you're a player or two away, and this team is not that close.

I truly don’t get not going after Montgomery. He’s a much needed innings eater and doesn’t have a draft pick attached. Very telling that Henry simply won’t pay up.

Also if we’re doing prospects. Anthony and Teel are completely untouchable imo. Rafaela is the guy I’d move first. He won’t hit in the majors.

Exactly, probably not much of an overpay given how long this has dragged out.

The Sox are 61 M under first tax threshold

Disgraceful

I’ll be more than happy to apologize come October and admit was I ever wrong and hope to

But right now they are just defiant asshoies

Is Henry view ‘I delivered 4 WS and they boo me and crap on me in media, F them ‘

FSG the lead investors in 3 B in golf

Screw golf and screw them

Red Sox are no longer passion but a piece of their portfolio

Just disgusting

This organization is a joke and everyone in baseball is baffled by the Sox at this moment.
When nobody is watching on NESN and Fenway is half-empty, they’ll figure it out. I’m not wasting my precious time and energy on that organization until they move in a better direction. They’ve been making the Bruins look good in terms of trying to win.

Are they trying to pull a “Major League” and knock attendance down to the point where they can relocate the team somewhere else…?

Pure speculation on my part, but I am wondering if FSG is planning on selling the team. With the decline in RSNs and baseball ratings generally, I wonder if John and Linda will bail while there is still value to be had.

Can we get an NL team in Boston? I know the answer is no but that would be glorious. An owner committed to spending and trying to win.

The problem is that they're going to overreact once they get bullied into action by the fan response this year and they'll do something like making Breslow trade Teel and Anthony to the Angels for 33 year old Trout after another wrist/back injury.

I don't see it. The fan outrage has been simmering for a year now. Henry doesn't show up for Winter Weekend. He's an absentee owner now. I think we are beyond the point where they go sign Panda, Crawford, Hanley Ramirez. I don't think they care enough to do anything unless visiting fans stop buying tickets.

I wouldn't call Cease a win-now player. He's 28yrs old, a CY Young runner up 2 seasons ago, coming off a down year pitching for one of the most dysfunctional teams in baseball. He's also got one of the best sliders in baseball.

That guy is a foundational piece in a contending rotation that you can build around and augment. If you are going to move your top prospects, that's exactly the kind of guy you do it for. IMHO, there isn't a single prospect on the Sox farm system who isn't untouchable......
