Hell baby
Serious question: is Mayo a f***ing moron?
I think it’s more of a Wolf call, they have a connection from Green Bay. Mcadoo is no doubt an atrocious head coach but he did ok as a coordinator with the giants. As long as he’s not in charge of anything idrc about his hiring outside of the comedy in getting to look at him on the sidelines. Major Deputy Dewey vibes from scary movie 1

The Van Pelt and McAdoo connections are to Eliot Wolf. So are we even sure Mayo is picking these guys?
I believe that Bert Breer wrote that Wolf was "assisting" Mayo in putting together an offensive staff.

Seems likely that Wolf is recommending coaches to Mayo???

Are we even sure then that Wolf himself wanted Mayo as HC? We know that was a Kraft production. I just don't like the optics of how this is unfolding. I thought Mayo would be prepared for this opportunity and be able to put together a staff.

AVP has a Wolf connection to

Its starting to become pretty clear he’s the untitled GM and Groh is doing the boots on the ground scouting

I've heard more shit about Caleb Williams and his ego than I care to know about. Norman may be a city but every one has stories and funny enough, they are all pretty much the same. He's got an ego the size of Texas, was a locker room cancer and no one misses him.

They are a much better team now overall.
Norman doesn't miss him, because he ditched them for USC, just like his head coach did. OF COURSE they are going to shit on him, after the fact.....

That's got nothing to do with whether or not he's a legit NFL QB.

He ain't falling to #3 anyway, so this whole debate is moot.

I'm not sure that matters. I tend to think that Mayo and his GM will have more of a collaborative relationship rather than the traditional boss/employee power structure.
It might be more collaborative but if they aren't aligned I am not sure it will work out.

With Mayo as HC and apparently untitled Wolf as "GM" that's a real cheap duo while Kraft gets through paying off Bill. I hope that is not the reason Kraft is going with this structure.

Well. We did employ Patricia as OC so maybe this hire isn't so out of left field.
Van Pelt played 4 years QB at Pitt and was an NFL backup for 8 years and another 20 as a coach on the offensive side

Yet I am reading and listening to people who know Jack shit about being a QB say he’s not qualified

Maybe they like me had one of those electric football games where the QB had a felt football and it vibrated for plays

I know that qualifies me to pass judgement on Van Pelt but if they didn’t have this game they should stf up starting with Felger & Jones. Holy shit are they idiots

I honestly think the Kraft’s know that the team is going to be terrible for the next few years, which is part of the reason they’re fine with just turning everything over to Mayo and whatever he wants to do.

Suck for 2-3 years and bring in the next guy when the roster is in a better spot.

I want SF because I can’t stand Chiefs - I’m not a fan of TS music but I like her attitude

lol

0.0 they think any of that

Last I looked they have a top 5 D; high draft picks, cap space, a franchise tag and a coach who is well respected and an actual coaching staff

If they didn’t have a defense yeh but it’s kinda good

I think the criticism is he hasn't really had to call plays but that probably would be the case with whoever they brought in

The defense was 29th in the NFL against teams over .500 last year. How many years in a row have we seen them get torched when they play better competition? Better than the offense, yes. Great, I don’t think so.

So, you think the Krafts annointed Mayo as Belichick's successor a year ago with the idea that they'd have to fire Belichick, and Mayo would be a placeholder before they sign a real coach in 2027?

The Pats are operating as any team would who had zero plan after firing their coach.

A lot of that is the offense putting the defense in awful situations all year long (or even just allowing the points themselves)
